How does the Bible take the reader from Genesis to Jesus?  Is the foreknowledge of the Messiah’s arrival something that has always interested you?  It has Craig Longcor, and he’s hitting up Jonathan Switzer for some basic Christian education.  He says that his questions for Jon are coming from a place of ignorance, not a place of opposition.  And he thinks maybe he’s in the same place you find yourself.

A month or two ago Craig Longcor was a guest on the Faith Debate for several weeks as we talked about the split that’s happening in the United Methodist Church and also the opioid crisis faced by our community.  The past couple of weeks he’s been back in the guest chair looking for foundational Christian answers from Jonathon Switzer.

Craig Longcor is a Christian who went to eight years of Catholic school.  As such, he says he has a foundation of teachings about Christ that many don’t.  And yet, Craig says he doesn’t know all that much about the prophecies pointing to Christ, and he assumes he’s not alone.  So, he’s hoping that Jonathan Switzer can help fill in some gaps in his knowledge base, and as the same time perhaps help fill in gaps in your knowledge base.

Did the Hebrew Scriptures Anticipate Christ?

On the panel for this show is a man who’s very thoughtful and who brings great questions and an engaging style.  Jonathan Switzer came to know Craig Longcor in September of 2019 when they worked shoulder-to-shoulder on the “Go Purple” campaign in Frederick.  This show talks about the opioid crisis that’s killing thousands upon thousands of Americans (and who knows how many countless individuals around the world) and what people in the faith community are doing about it.

There’s a man named Craig Longcor who has recently become a Christ follower.  He’s begun attending a United Methodist Church and, very sweetly, his wife attends with him even though she’s Jewish.  Well, one of the questions his wife has is why she can’t be saved without Jesus.  We explore the answer to that question on this edition of the Faith Debate.

Imagine you’re a new believer in Christ and you have a Jewish wife who is willing to attend Church with you, but she has lots of questions.  Questions like: Why are homosexuals so bad?”  “Why are some church members saying that they will grab their AR-57’s if ‘those homosexuals’ come to take their church?”  “Why is the denomination we attend about to split over the issue?”  Craig Longcor is just such a new believer and he happens to attend Bethesda United Methodist Church.

A stumbling block to many regarding the Christian faith has to do with the discourse about homosexuality.  In fact, it’s a stumbling block for entire denominations these days.  Just look at the battle royal over the past couple of years within the United Methodist Church.  Well, Craig Longcor is a new Christian who happens to be attending a United Methodist Church, and he has some questions.  He’s on the panel to get those darn questions answered.
