As more and more small house churches begin to dot the American church landscape, is there a particular “flavor” of Christianity that’s leading the charge?  For example, are Charismatic Christians more likely to prefer a house church?  Or is it more about general cultural perspectives, perhaps similar to what stands behind the homeschooling movement?

Living Faith Ministries is a very small church, with about a-dozen-and-a-half people involved right now.  The typical Sunday worship service has approximately twelve people in attendance.  So, if just one or two married couples miss the worship service on any particular Sunday then attendance that week is down 15% to 20%.  What’s the focus need to be in a situation like this?  And what’s the wisest path forward?

Lots of people leave a church.  Some leave forever.  Others leave for another church.  Some then leave these other churches and bounce from church to church hoping to find an ill-defined feeling of “home”.  If unsuccessful and frustrated, then what?  Start your own church, even without a pastor!  That’s what happened with Living Faith Ministries in Hagerstown.
