I want to let you know from the top, this podcast contains a word I never use myself. There's a trigger warning at the beginning.
You're going to hear Huck Finn's Pap rage against the government that existed just less than 200 years ago. Then you get to hear me whine about the current one.

Come travel through time and space on the Front Porch's first visit to Time Jumper Radio since episode 7.
Is it a shark or is it a virus? You may hear some connections as you float through space and different broadcasts pass by you.
I've never tried anything quite like this before. I hope it works.
The music in tonight's episode comes, almost exclusively, from this album:
This is the first time in quite a while I have done a conversation on the show. It's good to do that again.
This time, I got to talk to the Godfather of the Front Porch Podcast, and host of the Moving Forward Podcast, Corey Cottrell, about a new social media platform called Chirp. This is going to be a superior alternative to Facebook, and you will want to check it out as soon as it launches. I'll post a link when it arrives.
I also learned about cryptocurrency, since I am almost entirely ignorant of this, and the form of it we will be using on Chirp. It's called COINS. The idea is that the media platform will finally pay you for your data, which is what Facebook should have been doing all along.
Finally, I learned a little more about Shitposting. We end with a very brief conversation about the current state of the world.

This is the first two part podcast I have ever done. One might think the first half has nothing to do with the second half. They are, however, connected.
The first half is my normal podcast. I'm going to discuss the idea that the country, itself, is slowly smothering. I need to warn you that you will be hearing my readings of the last words of two black men who were murdered by the police.
The second is raw talk. I wrote nothing. I had to tell you about something odd that happened. My friend, Jenner, tells me my roommate and I may well have saved four lives that night... by refraining from violence. You can decide for yourself.

There is no Them who are going to die from this. We are dying in every country. We are dying in every town. We are dying in prisons. We are dying in the chain link cages in which refugees are living. We are dying in hospitals, while our loved ones bid us farewell on a cell phone because they can't be with us as we end our minutes on this planet. We are dying because we can't breathe anymore. That's the result of Covid. We are dying and only together can we slow death's march. This is a time when we absolutely must accept that we are all us.

I have advocated this idea repeatedly. Lately, people I love and respect have suggested it is mistaken. This is my response.
Before we begin, I want to say I'm sorry. Somewhere in this I'm likely to piss you off. I want you to know I'm not doing it intentionally. It is absolutely not my goal. I hope to help heal a bit. I hope to make helpful suggestions. I hope to share some ideas. I hope to bring just a few of us together for a little while.

Scott Santens, arguably the greatest mind on Universal Basic Income, graciously gave me permission to "cover" his essay "True Freedom Comes With Basic Income." I'm grateful to him.
The opening 6 minutes are my introduction. The rest of the episode is made up of his words.
Human Trafficking is a sickness that can be, if not entirely eliminated, certainly at least slowed, by giving everyone the means to survive independent of the work they do. He makes that point brilliantly in this essay.
If you would like to support me on Patreon, I could use your help.
Here is his essay:

You have never heard a podcast like this one. It is a complete audio experience. Give us time, and it will also be a video experience. This is unique, as far as we know, in the history of podcasting. We're unaware of an audiobook anything like this. If Pink Floyd ever produced prose, this would be it. We encourage you to use your headphones for this. It heightens the experience. This is a story of regrets, errors, and poor choices, and the opportunity to redeem them. This is a science fiction story. This is a story of an old man's dying fantasy. It's a story of suicide and homelessness. This story is also, perhaps, none of those things. What is this, then? Listen for yourself and decide. First... in the first three minutes I learned what audio latency is. I'm working on that. Sorry.
