We've been taught, practically since infancy, that Socialism is evil. It's worse than a dictatorship.  It destroys everything it touches.

It turns out, that might not be true.  Let's take another look at it.

I’m Disabled.  How disabled I am is open for debate.  There are those who claim my disabilities are insignificant.  There are those who think I am nothing but my disabilities.  This is probably the case for every disabled person.  People want us to fit into their neat little boxes.  Unfortunately, we can’t do that for you.  If disabled persons have nothing else in common, one thing we all share is that we are more than our diagnoses.

Diversity is a part of the universe.  Its existence is undeniable. For many, this is a problem.  We want everyone to be like us.  I'm advocating embracing and even celebrating the diversity that makes our lives meaningful.

This episode is purely personal.  I'm scared of many things right now.

There are plenty of reasons to be afraid.  They're useful in focusing ourselves in the moments we can enjoy.  Live while we can.  "Don't live today for tomorrow, like you were immortal," as Genesis remind us.

On the other hand...

Sometimes we need to refocus our attention to the beauty that still exists in the world.  It helps us to remember why it's worth the time to continue the fight for freedom.

And so, we must continue to fight for our Freedom.  We must continue to vote, to protest, and to protect our poor, our disenfranchised, our disabled, and our unrepresented.

In the past few weeks, half of the population has been denied bodily autonomy, we have seen threats to our rights to love whomever we choose, and we have lost much of our religious liberty.  The Freedom I have taken for granted since I was a child is evaporating before our eyes.
