  • Episode 155: What The Robb Elementary School Victims Can't Debate

    There are 21 sounds of gunshots in this episode.  The episode deals with the deaths of nineteen children and two teachers.  It is, by its very nature, upsetting.

    I know some of our listeners suffer from different forms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  I want you to feel free to skip this episode if you believe the noises or the subject matter are going to cause you extra stress with which you may have difficulty dealing.  It’s important to remember that what you’re hearing, however, is not real.  It’s not happening at this moment.  It’s about what has already happened.  It’s an effort to keep it from happening again.

    It is my hope that your traumas, too, are in the past, and that you can find the strength, in your own time and in your own way, to accept those moments and move into future free from them.  The memories may always be with us, but we can choose what to do with what remains of our lives.  I wish that were true for the people in tonight’s episode.

  • Episode 154: Interview With a Time Traveler

    Supposedly, the interview you're about to hear is with a Time Traveler from 2052.  You can decide what to believe.  He gives us a look into the future.  Some of it is horrible.  Some of it is beautiful.

    My friend, Lester (he calls himself "The Nightfly"), is a talk radio DJ at an independent station, WJAZ.  He does Jazz and conversation.  He's had some pretty strange callers on his show.  One of them complained about a race of men in the trees, and the guy was for tough legislation.  That gives you some metric for the reliability of his callers.


    Rasmussen, however, wasn't a caller.  He actually broke into the station, and he demanded Lester set up an interview with me over Zoom.  This is that interview.

    I wrote this before the atrocity at Robb Elementary School in Texas.  My intention here is to address how we can cut down on crime in general.  How do we reduce crime before it happens?  How do we avoid having criminals get out of prison and begin committing crimes again?



    I'll have some outrage to share about the murders of children in a couple of weeks.

    This is about Freedom of Expression.  I believe you're allowed to express opinions without regard to parts of you over which you had no control.  Your age, the gender and place you were born, and the family into which you were born do nothing to disqualify you from expressing your thoughts.  


    There seems to be disagreement about this simple fact.  We are evidently required to stay in our Little Boxes throughout all of our lives.  I don't agree with that idea.  I'll challenge the Liberals who are telling me that in this episode.

  • Episode 151: Diabetes and Depression and Autism Oh My


    I have to make a conscious choice to stay alive every day. Diabetes will kill me if I let it.  Depression makes this a challenge.  It can sap the will to live.  Autism complicates all of it.  I understand things differently than many people.  If you throw in the Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria I've recently learned I appear to have, you have the elements of a strange guy.

    This is about that guy.  I wonder if I'm also a narcissist.

    I'm sure I'm not the only person you know who deals with both Diabetes and Depression.  You also probably know someone who is on the Autism Spectrum somewhere.  I just learned about Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria.  The link to that information is here:
