  • Taboo_Pt2 with Shaunee Brannan
Now that you've warmed up to my guest and friend, Shaunee Brannan, have a seat, and get ready for some raw truth sprinkled with levity.
We continue with part two of the three-part series with Mrs. Shaunee Brannan.
She is the author behind the family, fun, faith, and fashion based blog: www.prayersandpunchlines.com · In 2017, she released her book “Hi Insecurity, BYE Insecurity” which is an insanely transparent book guaranteed to facilitate healing for anyone wrestling with this common issue. The book is available on Amazon. · She has graced the stage as a back of singer for legends like Fred Hammond · Her and her husband released their own worship project, Heaven on Earth (also available for purchase on Amazon). · I’m confident that as you listen over the next three weeks, that you’ll agree that to know her, is to love her. This is why she is such an effective pastor alongside her husband Gayle Brannan. Together they are powerhouse and if I could summarize their ministry in two words, those words would be 1. Relational and 2. Transformational. Get ready to LAUGH heartily with us, as we have an honest conversation about many of the topics that have been TABOO in the church for too long. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking an nontraditional, but practical look at: · The relationship between the church and politics · The (institutional) church’s responsibility to speak truth to power, especially as it relates to social injustice · Body shame · Parenting · Therapy · Boundaries · Abortion · Politics and women’s rights · Much, much more I hope you enjoy the series as much as I enjoyed the dialog! Like, share, subscribe and review if you enjoyed the podcast.

  • Taboo: Things You're Not *SUPPOSED* to Laugh, Think or Talk About in Church
You all are in for a treat! Today we’ll begin a three-part series with Mrs. Shaunee Brannan. Shaunee is that one homie that you can’t keep a straight face around, even in a devastating situation because she has the uncanny ability to spot the humor in ANY thing; I’d say its one of her superpowers.
    · She is the author behind the family, fun, faith, and fashion based blog: www.prayersandpunchlines.com

  • Post No Bills
In this episode, I discuss why we should penalize interlopers who litter in/on our well manicured lawn. Of course, the lawn is a metaphor for our minds. It is our responsibility to guard and till the garden of our minds especially since the experiences we manifest, the lens we craft and the people we attract to us have a lot to do with our mentality and outlook.  It is not benign to entertain every global or local tragedy- ESPECIALLY- if we don't have the wherewithal to remedy the situation.   Awareness is one thing, but obsession or immersion is another thing altogether. Be balanced. Steward your energy and attention because the present moment and the things in your purview require it of you.
There is no virtue, longevity or wisdom in championing EVERY. SINGLE. CAUSE, just because someone informs you about it. Our lamenting and anger, if not coupled with resolve and action, has not reached it's highest purpose.

  • Pieces of Peace
Everyday, it becomes more apparent that the world needs peacemakers.
If you're tempted to dismiss this episode because you think this is about playing nice or being docile as we move about, then you're absolutely WRONG (and clearly, haven't been listening to how I get down in the first two seasons LOL).
The world needs people who have [finally] made peace with reality and themselves. Out of that unwaivering authenticity, they are the ones who will make the greatest impact and the highest contribution. They've done the work. Therefore, they are well adjusted to handle chaos AND peace. They can stand flatfooted in any situation and say, unapologetically and unequivocally, "I AM that I AM".
Enjoy this episode as you level up. Remember, "blessed are the peacemakers" ;)

  • A Whole New World
Today we kick the third season of FredTalx off and while there is no shortage of bad news on every outlet, I want to disrupt that programming and inject some hope. Not the superficial hope, but something you can sink your teeth into. Yes, we are all facing a serious situation. Yes, we should be taking necessary precaution. Yes loss has been experienced BUT, it may not be the end of the world as some have prematurely declared…or, on the other hand, it JUST may be the end of the world in completely different sense- and THAT COULD BE A GOOD THING!
***NOTE: Hang in there with me on this episode. I do cite the bible quite a bit in this episode but it's to extinguish the same fear that others are creating by weaponizing the bible. I do this by contextualizing some of the often quoted text used every time someone wants to declare God's judgment. Hopefully, we can put that to rest with this episode.
I’d love to have your feedback after you listen to the episode. Hit me up on any social media platform @FredTalx or email me at [email protected].
