In this lesson you’ll learn a fun Jump Blues style rhythm in the key of B. It’s kind of reminiscent of the song “Give Me Back My Wig”, but with a little slower tempo.

In this lesson I’ll show you a neat way to transition from Box 3 into Box 4 which switches you from a major to a minor sounding blues lick. It can be used at several places in a 12-bar progression. I’ll show you two different places to use it, with demonstrations.

In this lesson you’ll learn a Pride And Joy style soloing lick that fits right at the beginning of the main solo. It uses some sliding 2-note chords, and a fancy descending lick from Box 2 into Box 1. The odd timing makes it a little more challenging to play than if we were playing it right on the beat.

Here’s a lick that is used at the end of a lot of 12-bar blues songs. The lick is very simple, easy enough for beginners to learn, and there’s a slight twist at the end to give it a bit more polish.

Once you’re comfortable playing the fundamentals of the Texas Shuffle rhythm heard in Pride And Joy, it’s time to add some polish with chord embellishments on the transitions. In this free lesson I’ll show you how to embellish the I chord during the transition between repetitions of the main rhythm. There’s some careful picking and muting required, but once you get it right, the rhythm become much more lively.
