ROSSCO PADDISON - HEART CENTERED MONEY MAKER
00:43 – Meet Rossco Paddison, the visionary behind the Heart Centred Money Makers movement, as he describes exactly what a Heart Centred Money Maker is, what his movement hopes to promote, and what prompted him to start it
02:43 – Rossco describes what’s most exciting for him in his current business, Heart Centred Money Makers, and how he feels about this chance to give back and create a community. They’re now looking towards growing this movement and establishing centres in Australia, South East Asia, and the US within the next five years
03:53 – He goes into a bit more detail about his centres – their meet-ups, their groups, and their current programs geared towards helping people become more conscious and conscientious capitalists
04:31 – Rossco shares a quote that worked for him: “Sometimes you’ve just got to change your environment if you want a different result”
05:24 – Rossco’s story – he admits to being a self-proclaimed “nerd”, but in the sense that while others were out drinking and partying, he was trying to create businesses. His idea of fun was sitting in front of empty commercial spaces for rent and thinking of 20 different business concepts he could run in that stall. He freely admits to committing huge mistakes and slip-ups. In his early- to mid- twenties, he experienced utter bankruptcy. This served as a massive wake-up call for him. “I had a love of money,” Rossco says, “but I had no respect for it.”
07:47 – Rossco’s Story continues – he noticed that as he grew to respect his money (an inanimate object), his attitude to the people around him changed as well. He learned to care and respect those around him more – a development that, he says, was really interesting to see unfold. His turning point happened when he encountered this quote by the Dalai Lama: “The Western World will be saved by the Western Woman.” And it just made sense for him. How Rossco understood it was simple: when we have women in leadership – or, essentially, people who lead from the heart – that’s when we’ll make the greatest impact this world needs. “Because we’ll have people who not only care about the profit,” Rossco explains “… but about doing good in the world [as well].”
09:16 – Rossco shares the world’s two biggest problems
11:36 –The biggest challenge, Rossco recounts, in shifting to his current place of total heart centred-ness, was having to slow down and do what actually needed to be done in order to speed up the results he wanted to get. According to Rossco, the fastest way to get the results we want is to slow down and do what we actually need to do. Essentially, patience was the hardest thing for Rossco to learn.
Fun fact: he looked up the etymology of “patience”. Find out what it is at 12:19
14:20 – How did Rossco get over those challenges? He learned the difference between “inspiration” and “motivation.” Inspiration is within, Rossco explains, while motivation is extrinsic factors
15:48 – Rossco shares some advice on how to slow down to get results faster. It involves four columns.
1. In the first column, write down all the pieces or things that need to be done. Empty your head – it’s safer on a piece of paper
2. Go through the list – transfer 20% of those to the next column (if you’ve got 10 things, you can only transfer 2)
3. Break that 20% down into simple steps – no matter how stupid (even if it’s something as simple as sending an email)
4. Sequence – which one do you do first?
Breaking tasks down into simple steps achieves 2 things:
1. You know what you need to do to slow down
2. Breaking it down into steps removes your excuses
19:05 – What holds people back from getting stuff done?
20:42 – Time-Travel Moment: If you were starting over from scratch, with only your experience, what would you do? What is your priority?
If your priority is cash, then the fastest path to cash, according to Rossco, is to get out there and connect with as many human beings as possible. Find out what their problem is, offer to solve it for them, ask for a fair fee in return.
However, he admits that if he were starting over today, he wouldn’t be so worried about the money in the first 10 weeks or 2 months. He would spend more time giving upfront, in advance. He would rather go out there and help as many as people as he could just to build connections
22:09 – Business for Rossco boils down to 4 things:
1. Expand your reach
2. Convert more of them into costumers
3. Deliver more on your promises
4. Contribute that money back to the world
