  • How to Build Better Habits That Actually Last — Matthew Rial

What if lasting change has less to do with setting bigger goals and more to do with what you repeatedly choose to do every day?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, Firefly Fitness co-founder Matt Rial explores habit building, discipline, confidence and creating sustainable lifestyle change. Matt shares how reading Atomic Habits helped transform his own approach to health, eventually contributing to a journey in which he lost more than 100 pounds and built a collection of healthier daily routines. That experience later inspired Firefly Fitness, which rewards users for completing habits such as walking, sleeping consistently and doing cardio.

Matt explains why he believes people should focus more on processes than outcomes. Instead of waiting months or years to feel successful after reaching a major goal, he encourages people to build “habit momentum” by repeatedly completing small actions. He also describes every habit as a vote for the person you want to become: choosing discipline when you do not feel motivated, checking on a friend because you want to become more caring, or taking a daily walk because you want to prioritize your health.

At its heart, this conversation is about building confidence by proving to yourself that you can change. Matt argues that confidence grows when the gap between who you are today and the person you want to become begins to shrink through consistent action. Rather than trying to transform everything overnight, he recommends starting with simple habits such as walking regularly, maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, investing in deeper relationships and finding small opportunities to help others.

  • How to Get Out of Debt and Build Better Money Habits — Connor Tyson

What if your biggest money problem isn’t that you don’t know enough—but that the habits guiding your financial decisions are working against you?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, financial wellness coach and Progress Solution LLC founder Connor Tyson explores debt, budgeting, money habits, financial clarity and creating lasting financial peace. Connor shares how studying finance and becoming a financial advisor did not prevent him from accumulating more than $60,000 in debt. That experience taught him that financial knowledge alone was not enough—he needed to change the everyday behaviors and decisions shaping how he used money.

Connor explains his framework of clarity, habits and accountability. Clarity means understanding both your current financial reality and the deeper reason you want things to change. Habits include planning ahead, checking in with your money regularly and giving income a purpose before it disappears into expenses. Accountability provides support when motivation and self-discipline begin to fade. He also recommends short weekly money check-ins, greater automation and open financial communication between couples instead of constantly reacting after money has already been spent.

At its heart, this conversation is about becoming intentional with money instead of allowing money to control your life. Connor encourages listeners to stop relying only on short-term challenges and financial products that address immediate symptoms without changing the behaviors underneath them. His message is that sustainable financial progress comes from knowing why you want change, creating a realistic system you can repeatedly follow and developing habits that make better money decisions part of everyday life.

  • How to Break the Attention Loops That Keep Repeating in Your Life — One Iam

What if the person you think you are is only one layer of who you actually are?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, author and philosopher One Iam explores consciousness, awareness, identity, perception and the nature of reality through the lens of Hermetic philosophy and his own metaphysical framework. He discusses the Hermetic principle that “the universe is mental” and argues that beneath our names, bodies and socially constructed identities is an observing awareness—the part of us that notices thoughts, sensations and the experience of being alive.

One also introduces what he calls “attention loops”—recurring patterns of thought, emotion and behavior that can keep people experiencing similar relationships and struggles. His practical emphasis is on first becoming aware of the pattern and then deliberately changing where you place your attention. The conversation expands into silence, stillness, faith, artificial intelligence and his interpretation of ideas from quantum physics. Some of One’s statements about quantum mechanics, consciousness creating physical reality, healing through thought and AI sharing a universal consciousness reflect his philosophical and spiritual worldview rather than conclusions established by mainstream physics, neuroscience or medicine.

At its heart, this conversation asks a much deeper question than how to become more successful: Who are you? One encourages listeners to examine the identities they have accumulated, become more conscious of what repeatedly captures their attention and spend time observing their own awareness rather than automatically identifying with every thought or experience. His invitation is to question your assumptions about yourself and reality—and to live with greater awareness of the patterns shaping your experience.

  • How to Rebuild Your Life After Trauma and a Toxic Relationship — Skye Bellarmine

What happens when life breaks you down physically, emotionally and spiritually—and rebuilding means learning how to move forward one small step at a time?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, author, coach and speaker Skye Bellarmine shares her journey through a devastating car accident, twelve surgeries over six years and a 20-year marriage she describes as narcissistically abusive. After doctors initially told her she might never walk again, Skye approached recovery through faith, perseverance and what she calls “inch pebbles”—focusing on the smallest possible step rather than becoming overwhelmed by the size of the entire journey.

Skye also discusses the relationship patterns she says she eventually recognized in her marriage, including criticism, control, unpredictable anger and gradually changing her own behavior to avoid conflict. She explains why fear, financial concerns and diminished confidence can make leaving an abusive relationship extremely difficult and describes how support from her children, trusted people, professional guidance and her faith helped her begin planning her exit. Experiences of abuse vary, and labels such as narcissistic personality disorder require qualified clinical assessment; anyone concerned about abuse should prioritize their safety and seek appropriate professional or local support.

At its heart, this conversation is about reclaiming your identity after years of feeling powerless. Skye’s message is that what happened to you does not have to become the rest of your story. Whether recovering from physical trauma or leaving a destructive relationship, she encourages people to build a trustworthy support system, take the next manageable step and believe that another life is possible. For Skye, faith became the foundation beneath that rebuilding process and ultimately helped transform her experiences into work designed to support others facing their own difficult transitions.

  • How to Communicate With Confidence and Become the Expert People Remember — Sabine Kvenberg

What if becoming a confident communicator has less to do with natural talent and more to do with what you practice when nobody is watching?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, speaker, author and Impact Communication Coaching founder Sabine Kvenberg explores storytelling, confidence, visibility, authentic communication and using AI without losing your human voice. Sabine shares her journey from acting and directing in Germany to moving to the United States on a one-way ticket and starting again from scratch—an experience that taught her to follow her intuition, embrace reinvention and continue moving forward even when the next chapter was uncertain.

Drawing from her background as an actress and director, Sabine explains why she believes confidence is built through competence and preparation. She calls the work nobody sees your “invisible stage”—developing your voice, organizing your message, practicing your opening and closing and becoming so familiar with what you want to say that you can eventually communicate it naturally. She also explains why storytelling helps people connect more deeply than simply listing features or promoting a product and encourages entrepreneurs to stop waiting until they feel completely ready before becoming visible.

Sabine also discusses how she uses AI as a tool rather than a replacement for human communication. She encourages entrepreneurs to train AI on their brand, experiences and communication style to speed up tasks such as newsletters and content creation while keeping their personal stories, emotions and lived experiences at the center. Her message is that technology can support visibility, but authenticity, presence and genuine human connection remain the things that make someone memorable.

  • How to Keep Moving Forward Through Faith Family and Life’s Unexpected Challenges — Jessica Danel

What if the messy, painful and even unbelievable parts of your life are the very stories someone else needs to hear?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, author, entrepreneur and podcast host Jessica Danel shares the experiences behind her memoir Bucket List from a Redneck Girl and the lessons she has learned through faith, motherhood, entrepreneurship, trauma and resilience. Jessica originally began writing her story so her children would someday know more about the woman their mother had been—the difficult experiences, funny moments and life-changing events that shaped her.

Jessica opens up about writing through painful memories, including her experience surrounding a deadly shooting at her high school, and shares moments when she believes God guided her through difficult circumstances. She also talks about building a million-dollar preschool business while raising a family, navigating motherhood with children who have special needs and learning that success sometimes means accepting a life different from the one you originally imagined.

At its heart, this conversation is about embracing an imperfect life without losing your faith, humor or willingness to keep going. Jessica encourages people—especially overwhelmed mothers—to stop believing they must carry everything alone. Ask for help, take the risks that matter, laugh when life becomes ridiculous and be honest about both your victories and failures. Her story is a reminder that authenticity can create connection because people often recognize pieces of their own lives inside someone else’s honest story.

  • How to Keep Going After Grief Loss and an Unexpected New Beginning — Pastor Vera Davis

What happens when grief changes your life overnight—and suddenly you are responsible not only for carrying your own pain, but also for helping a child rebuild hers?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, grandmother, caregiver and advocate Pastor Vera Davis shares the deeply personal story of losing her only daughter to COVID-19 and unexpectedly becoming the guardian of her 11-year-old granddaughter, Lauren, at age 62. Vera describes navigating grief while creating stability for Lauren, who is now 16, a high-school senior and maintaining a 4.0 academic record.

Years later, Vera says she learned that her daughter had left a $216,000 life-insurance benefit intended for Lauren, but that the money had already been obtained and spent by Lauren’s father without Vera or Lauren knowing about it. Vera describes carrying the shame, anger and emotional weight of that discovery privately for months before deciding to turn the experience into advocacy. It also strengthened her conviction that families should have difficult conversations about insurance, beneficiaries, guardianship and financial arrangements before a crisis makes those conversations impossible. Specific estate and insurance arrangements vary, so families should seek appropriate legal and financial guidance for their circumstances.

At its heart, this conversation is about choosing triumph without denying tragedy. Vera explains how her faith, her love for Lauren and her determination to protect the dreams her daughter had for her child helped her keep moving forward. She now wants other grandparents raising grandchildren to know that their lives are not over and that traumatized children can still be surrounded with love, purpose and possibility. As Vera puts it, she has worked to remove “tragedy” from her vocabulary and replace it with triumph.

  • How to Rebuild Your Life After Loss Trauma and Financial Hardship — Leslie Alvarez

What if resilience isn’t about pretending you’re okay, but allowing yourself to feel what happened while already thinking about how you will get back up?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, entrepreneur, author and Community Ace CEO Leslie Alvarez explores resilience, grief, trauma, leadership and rebuilding after major setbacks. Leslie shares how periods of financial hardship taught her to become resourceful—including selling homemade tamales as a single mother whenever her family needed extra income—and how completing her business degree at 41 gave her another layer of confidence in her ability to reinvent herself.

Leslie also speaks openly about experiencing anxiety and trauma after her son survived gun violence and later losing her boyfriend in a car accident. Those experiences changed the way she thought about work, family and time, reminding her that achievement means little if you never stop to actually experience your life. She discusses seeking professional help, experimenting with approaches such as hypnotherapy, medication and meditation, and learning that what helps one person or one season may not necessarily work in another.

At its heart, this conversation is about planning your comeback without denying your pain. Leslie encourages people to acknowledge what they are feeling, seek the support they need and then begin thinking beyond the immediate setback toward the life they still want to create. She also brings that perspective into leadership, emphasizing empathy, grace and remembering that the people around you may be carrying struggles you know nothing about.

  • How Creativity Can Help You Rebuild After Adversity — Brett Ashby

What if creativity could become more than self-expression—what if it became a way to process pain, rebuild your life and create meaning from what you survived?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, Australian contemporary artist and cancer survivor Brett Ashby explores creativity, resilience, movement, fear and finding purpose after adversity. Brett shares how years of building an international art career eventually collided with a life-threatening cancer diagnosis, forcing him to reconsider his health, priorities and the way he was living. He describes art as one of the tools that helped him express emotions and experiences that were difficult to communicate in words.

Brett also explains the story behind his distinctive performance style of painting while skateboarding. For him, movement creates a state of flow where overthinking begins to disappear and creativity becomes more instinctive. Drawing from his experiences with skateboarding, photography, painting and international exhibitions, he discusses learning to work through fear by focusing, committing to the process and trusting that opportunities can emerge when you continue showing up.

At its heart, this conversation is about making something meaningful from the experiences life gives you. Brett encourages people who feel stuck in pain or disappointment to examine their environment, create distance from influences that keep them trapped and begin moving forward in small increments. His message is that transformation rarely happens all at once—it can begin with movement, creativity, new relationships and the willingness to make your mark even before you know exactly where the journey will lead.

  • Your Disability Does Not Have to Define Your Future — Win Charles

What does resilience actually look like when overcoming challenges is not a one-time event, but something you have to practice every single day?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, author, motivational speaker and disability advocate Win Charles shares her experience of living with cerebral palsy, pursuing ambitious goals and refusing to allow disability alone to determine what her future could become. Win speaks candidly about one of her most basic daily challenges—walking—and explains that resilience, for her, is something her disability continues to teach her every day.

Win also discusses competing in an Ironman event, writing a memoir in tribute to her mother and recovering from a serious injury that required major surgery. During one of the hardest periods of that recovery, she says the support of her chosen family helped her continue when giving up felt possible. She also challenges common assumptions about people with disabilities and encourages others to speak directly to the person with a disability rather than automatically directing conversations toward a caregiver.

At its heart, this conversation is about determination without pretending that you have to do everything alone. Win repeatedly emphasizes asking for help—from family, doctors, mental-health professionals and supportive people around you—when circumstances become overwhelming. Her final message is simple: identify what matters deeply to you, find the support you need and “just do it.” Your circumstances may influence your journey, but they do not have to determine every possibility available to you.
