  • How to Rediscover Your Self-Worth and Inner Magnificence — Sue Paulson

What if personal growth isn’t about fixing what is wrong with you, but remembering that you were already worthy before you started trying to improve yourself?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, bestselling author and speaker Sue Paulson explores self-worth, resilience, self-love and what she calls our innate magnificence. Drawing from experiences that include divorce, financial setbacks and cancer, Sue shares how her understanding of herself changed from believing she needed to constantly improve and prove her worth to recognizing that value, creativity and possibility were already within her.

Sue also introduces four inner “power tools” — determination, courage, hope and faith — that she believes help people continue through difficult seasons. She explains how adversity can eventually reveal unexpected lessons, including learning to receive help instead of always trying to be the strong, independent person. The conversation also explores the difference between approaching growth from “I am not enough” and developing new skills while already believing you are enough.

At its heart, this conversation is about changing the relationship you have with yourself. Sue encourages listeners to practice self-love, notice their strengths, challenge fear-based thoughts and deliberately recognize everyday successes. One practical exercise she recommends is writing down 100 things you appreciate, admire or love about yourself—a way to begin seeing more clearly the abilities, values and qualities that may have been there all along.Connect with Sue Paulson

  • How Nature and Connection Can Help You Heal From Trauma — Colette Duvall Podella

What if healing is not only about recovering from what happened to you, but reconnecting with the person underneath the pain?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, author, spiritual minister and Shadowland Foundation co-founder Colette Duval Podella shares her personal journey through childhood trauma, recovery, spirituality, belonging and healing through connection with nature. After memories of childhood sexual abuse surfaced in adulthood, Colette pursued therapy, group work and spiritual practices. She describes meeting the wolves at Shadowland as another major turning point—an experience that helped her reconnect with a sense of authenticity, acceptance and belonging.

Colette explains how her Wolf Wisdom work uses her experiences with wolves and nature as a framework for exploring presence, unconditional connection and community. She believes healing involves both the private work of understanding yourself and the courage to bring that more authentic self back into relationship with others. She also discusses grounding practices such as listening to the sounds around you, spending time outdoors and reconnecting with physical sensations as tools she personally uses to return to the present moment.

At its heart, this conversation is about recovering your sense of self and finding somewhere you belong. Colette’s message is that painful experiences may leave lasting triggers and scars, but they do not have to erase your identity. Through self-awareness, spirituality, nature and supportive community, she encourages people to rediscover their own authenticity and then use what they have learned to contribute to the healing of others.

  • How to Turn Trauma Addiction and Adversity Into Purpose — Joe Gonzalez

What if healing isn’t always about eliminating every struggle, but learning how to stop those struggles from controlling your life?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, author and Navy veteran Joe Gonzalez shares his journey through trauma, disability, addiction, near-death experiences and rebuilding his life. After surviving several life-threatening events—including a serious diving accident and another accident that left him in a coma and facing a long recovery—Joe began questioning the patterns in his life and reconsidering how he responded to adversity.

Joe introduces one of his central metaphors: difficult experiences such as addiction, anger, depression, trauma and disability can become unwanted “roommates,” but you remain the landlord of your mind. Some struggles may disappear while others may remain, but Joe believes the goal is to stop handing them control. He also discusses his personal experiences with addiction recovery, ego, spirituality and ayahuasca, framing these as parts of his own journey rather than universal approaches to healing.

At its heart, this conversation is about personal responsibility, perception and transforming pain into purpose. Joe describes his shift from viewing midlife as a crisis to seeing it as an awakening—an opportunity to understand his strengths and limitations, learn from past mistakes and build something that serves others. His message is that adversity may change your circumstances, but you can still decide how much authority it has over the person you become.

  • How to Build a Strong God-Centered Marriage That Lasts — Veronica Sutherland

What if deeply loving someone is only the beginning—and a lasting marriage requires intentional preparation, communication and daily commitment?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, Christian marriage coach and family life educator Veronica Sutherland explores marriage, communication, emotional connection, faith and preparing for a lifelong relationship. Drawing from more than 40 years of marriage and her own season of feeling unheard and disconnected from her husband, Veronica shares how prayer, personal responsibility and learning to see her spouse differently helped transform the way she approached her marriage.

Veronica explains why couples should discuss expectations, finances, communication, family boundaries and other potential areas of conflict before getting married. She also shares practical ways married couples can stay connected, including creating distraction-free time together, communicating hurt instead of silently accumulating resentment, praying together and rebuilding trust through vulnerability and consistently following through on agreements.

At its heart, this conversation is about building a marriage intentionally rather than assuming love alone will carry it. Veronica encourages couples to keep Christ at the center, practice kindness and forgiveness, create space for honest conversations and remember that children are learning what love and marriage look like by watching their parents. Strong marriages, in her view, are built through the small choices couples make to remain present, communicate and keep choosing each other.

  • How to Rebuild Your Identity After Addiction — Rowan Vale

What happens when addiction takes so much from you that you can no longer recognize the person looking back at you?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, author Rowan Vale shares his deeply personal journey through addiction, shame, identity, faith and recovery. Writing his memoir Enough from inside his own recovery rather than years removed from it, Rowan speaks directly to people who believe they have fallen too far to change. His central message is that the belief that you are “too far gone” can become one of the very things keeping you trapped.

Rowan opens up about losing his sense of identity, living out versions of himself designed to gain acceptance and eventually reaching a point where surrender became necessary. He describes asking for help, entering sober living, finding a recovery community and slowly learning to face the fear, guilt and shame he had spent years trying to escape. For Rowan, rebuilding has meant becoming aware of his thoughts and reactions, setting aside the need to control everything and learning to take recovery one day—or sometimes one moment—at a time.

At its heart, this conversation is about coming home to yourself. Rowan explains why he believes healing requires turning toward the parts of yourself you have spent years running from rather than continually searching for something outside yourself to make the pain disappear. Faith, fatherhood, community and honest self-examination now play important roles in his recovery. His message to anyone still struggling is simple: your past may be part of your story, but it does not have to decide how the story ends.

  • How to Find Hope While Raising a Child With Autism — Paul Voss

What happens when the future you imagined for your child suddenly becomes uncertain—and your entire family has to learn a new way forward?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, father of eight and author Paul Voss shares his family’s experience after his youngest daughter was diagnosed with autism in 2022. Paul talks openly about the sleep disruption, speech changes, uncertainty and emotional weight surrounding the diagnosis, including the fear that he might never hear his daughter tell him, “I love you.” The experience pushed him to learn everything he could while trying to support both his daughter and the rest of his family.

Paul also discusses several lifestyle and complementary approaches his family personally tried, including changes around screens, diet and other wellness practices. He describes improvements he believes they observed, while emphasizing throughout the conversation that autism varies greatly from child to child and that parents should research recommendations carefully rather than assuming there is a single solution. These experiences represent Paul’s personal perspective and should not be taken as established medical treatment guidance for autism.

At its heart, this conversation is about fatherhood, perspective and finding hope in a difficult season. Paul explains how raising his daughter taught him to appreciate smaller milestones, become more patient and understand love beyond words. After eventually hearing his daughter say “I love you,” he realized that she had already been expressing love in many other ways. His message to parents is to keep learning, celebrate progress that might seem small to others and remember that an autism diagnosis does not have to erase hope for the future.

  • How to Think Pray and Love More Like Jesus — James Early

What does it actually mean to follow Jesus—not simply to believe certain things about Him, but to allow His teachings to shape the way you think, pray, love and live?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, Bible teacher, speaker and host of The Bible Speaks to You podcast James Early explores faith, discipleship, the mind of Christ and living out the teachings of Jesus. After more than 50 years of studying Scripture, James shares why his focus has increasingly become returning to what Jesus actually said and asking how those teachings can be practiced in everyday life.

James discusses what it means to have the mind of Christ, why he believes Christian faith should be visible through action as well as belief, and how prayer, Bible study, repentance and listening for God's guidance can deepen a person's relationship with Him. He also challenges listeners to examine inherited beliefs for themselves and measure their lives against Jesus' teachings about love, forgiveness, service and caring for others.

Drawing from his years of prison ministry, James also shares how he has watched people rebuild their faith, confront past mistakes and discover hope through supportive community and putting biblical principles into practice. His central message is simple: following Jesus is not merely agreeing with a set of doctrines—it is learning to live differently because of what Jesus taught.Connect with James Early

  • How to Rebuild Yourself After Workplace Trauma — Brittany Benson

What happens when the workplace where you once felt capable and confident slowly makes you question your own judgment, abilities and sense of self?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, workplace advocate Brittany Benson shares her experience with workplace bullying, microaggressions, gaslighting, neurodivergence and psychological safety. Brittany describes how speaking up about a workplace microaggression was followed by increasing criticism and confusion, and how the experience gradually caused her to doubt herself and internalize what was happening. It was only through support from allies, time away from the workplace and therapy that she began to understand the experience differently.

Brittany also explains what psychological safety should look like in practice: leaders who listen, trustworthy reporting processes, accountability at every level and environments where feedback can move in every direction. As someone with ADHD and anxiety, she discusses how neurodivergent traits such as asking for clarity, thinking differently and communicating directly can become strengths in supportive workplaces—or sources of misunderstanding in unhealthy ones.

At its heart, this conversation is about reclaiming your voice, confidence and identity after workplace trauma. Brittany shares how therapy, community, faith, boundaries and telling her story helped her reconnect with herself. Her message is especially powerful for anyone who feels broken by a toxic environment: losing confidence does not mean losing your worth, and resilience should not mean learning to tolerate an unhealthy system. Organizations have a responsibility to build workplaces where people can thrive rather than simply survive.

  • How Men Over 40 Can Lose Fat and Rebuild Their Health — Brian Parana

Why can a man be successful in business, family and career but still struggle to take control of his own health?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, health and lifestyle coach Brian Parana explores fat loss, energy, nutrition and sustainable health for men over 40. Brian explains how the responsibilities of career, family, finances and aging parents can gradually push personal health to the bottom of the priority list. Before long, many men find themselves dealing with weight gain, lower energy and a body that no longer responds the way it did when they were younger.

Rather than returning to extreme workouts or restrictive diets, Brian introduces what he calls the Middle Gear Mentality—moderation, balance and flexibility. He argues that sustainable progress should fit into real life and focuses on three practical levers: moving more, making better food choices and controlling portions. His broader philosophy is simple: make healthy behaviors manageable enough that you can continue doing them instead of repeatedly starting and stopping.

Brian also discusses why men often ignore warning signs and delay asking for help. His message is that taking care of your health does not require an all-or-nothing transformation. It starts with being honest about where you are, building consistent habits and changing your identity from someone who is merely trying to “get healthy” into someone who sees taking care of his body as part of who he is.

  • Male Victims of Abuse Deserve to Be Heard Too — Liana Lucine

What happens when a man experiences sexual assault, harassment or domestic abuse—but the people around him don't even recognize that he can be a victim?

In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, former Metropolitan Police officer, author and learning specialist Liana Lucine explores male victims of sexual assault, harassment and domestic abuse. Drawing from 18 years in policing and conversations with male survivors, Liana explains why traditional ideas about masculinity can make it difficult for men to identify themselves as victims, disclose what happened or believe they will be taken seriously.

Liana discusses how reactions such as laughter, minimization and “why didn't you fight back?” can deepen the silence surrounding male victimhood. She also examines the role of workplaces, schools, training programs and support systems, arguing that more inclusive language and representation could help men recognize that consent, trauma and abuse are not exclusively women's issues. Her message is not about reducing support for female victims, but extending compassion and appropriate support to anyone who experiences abuse.

At its heart, this conversation is about making room for victims who often feel invisible. Liana encourages men who have experienced abuse to first acknowledge what happened without blaming themselves and, when they are ready, find someone trustworthy who will listen without ridicule or dismissal. The broader challenge for society is to stop treating victimhood as gender-specific and create environments where both men and women can speak about abuse and receive serious, compassionate support.
