As we're likely to do when we record an episode, we wandered quite a bit. Maybe (not declaring this, in case we're being monitored) we felt freedom because the President's State of the Union was such a free-flowing ride. But we quickly settled in on offering some useful advice to loyal listeners who, like us, have experienced too much hovering from restaurant staff. One finger hushing might work for a waitress, but don't EVER try it with your wife.

As editor-in-chief of the title and description for each podcast, I (Dr Dave) try my best to be objective. But in these post-production minutes before upload  I still feel the sting of being exposed for my poor Valentine's Day efforts last week. David, like Pappy, chases the laugh first. Today, in my emotionally fragile state as a love buffoon, I needed more compassion than I got. Thanks for listening…I feel a bit better now. Just don't push your sushi $#%! on me.

Many apologies to our listeners for failing to record a podcast last week. Dr Dave's cross country drive simply didn't square with David's comedy touring schedule. We are opening a search for a manager. It's a great gig. Non-paid. Meanwhile, it was only fitting that we were blessed by David's Pacino-like interpretation of his favorite verse as spoken by Moses. It was only a slightly veiled nod to Bad Bunny.

Mistakes happen when the risky thing we intended to do does not receive the careful attention it needs. So when Dr Dave—already experimenting with his facial hair—accidentally shaved a bunch of his trademark goatee, it now sits as a mustache deserving of the Old West. Or, as DrDR's wife warns, "Mr Monopoly is coming." Meanwhile, as David cackled and leaned in for closer looks, the missing veneer from his front tooth had his pod-ner (get it?) giggling. Too many visual distractions in this episode buried the lead: Applebee's new bacon-burger soaked in molten cheese is worth the trip.

Loyal listeners know that Dr Dave handles post-production details like titling episodes and writing descriptions to help those who want to weigh whether eavesdropping on our free wheeling conversation is going to be worth their time. Not gonna lie. It's been a few hours since we recorded but there's still a freeze in this relationship. Comedian David P Dean felt OK making fun of the old man's sleep aid. So please forgive the public whining tucked inside this write-up. David's well-traveled hand-warmers won't soon thaw this love on ice.

Weather reports set the tone for our day. Blue sky? Even if it's cold and snowy, that helps. Rainy and warm? Maybe that's OK. But David is preparing for frigid conditions as he prepares to see the Bears v Rams at Soldier Field and the new hand warmer St Betsy bought him has far too many buttons. We talked about which Patrick Swayze movie character might be helpful. It was weird.

It gives us great pleasure whenever we, your frail and flawed FC2.0 co-hosts, can offer some small pearl that will enhance the life of our merry band of loyal listeners. Get your notepads out, kids; once we figured out how to burp our houses we realized that the beauty of a burp is how well it travels beyond a simple expression of an uncooperative digestive system. We hope you agree. In fact, we hope you feel empowered to explore the nearly infinite ways you can burp up the value of your every day life.

Happy New Year, everyone! Our entire staff here at FC 2.0 headquarters wish you nothing but the best. That's very much unlike the end-of-life journey the Italians offered their once-admired dictator at the end of WW2. If you didn't know that factoid, strap it in for a 2026 ride. David invested his time during the biggest worldwide party of the year learning such knowledge and we, loyal listeners, are always generous with what we discover. If Jesus thought it important to connect in regional dialects so we could know, so do we. Dude!!

This episode let David pay tribute to favorite actors and singers who crowded into his Christmas experience. We got caught up in the lovely imaginations of the season. How could Snoop, Jimmy, Mel, Chris, Mark and Andrea collaborate? Also, we imagined becoming more like active participants again rather than bewildered but smiling spectators. We may have encouraged one another to behave in ways that will earn eye-rolls from those closest to us. If so, mission accomplished.

In case you've lost track of time for your Christmas shopping, we're in countdown mode. Today is the last Thursday you'll have before December 25 hits you like a spoiled fruitcake. We tried to aim this episode as public service, hoping to be helpful. But we're a bit inclined to chase shiny objects when we're chatting, so … you know. Lots of story telling today. Early hard labor work experiences that convinced us to find other ways to make money. Family. Faith. And a eureka moment where David imagined the perfect gift for St Betsy. HBJ!!
