CHLiiLN is a Naija-Kiwi raised in Maungakiekie-Tamaki. He has deejayed for Wuk It Up, Afrodaze, One Forty Dubz, and Glass Half Full, and frequent guest host for Full Metal Racket on BASE FM, and select show on Whatevers Radio on KFM and SKYWAY. CHLiiLN is a soundsystem specialist, focusing on afrotek, bashment, soundsystem, amapiano, UK funky, jungle, and 160 breakcore. He is also an audio engineer for Neck of the Woods, Cassette Nine, Galatos, and Jafa Mafia, and is a long time collaborative producer with underground creative community projects and events including Worn Out, Cross.Beat, and Freak of the Week.

Earlier this year, the duo released their self-titled debut via Enmossed x Psychic Liberation. It is a must listen document that falls in the interzone between ambient, industrial, and tape music. Let them expand your mind in the second half of the broadcast.

About the mix: "For this mix, we intercalated tracks that we both selected without knowing what the other person was planning to include, which is very much a reflection of the collaboration that bad LSD trips turned out to be. Many of these artists/albums became part of the psychedelic landscape we inhabited during a time when we were forced to be homebound and in some ways, they bring about our individual approach to recording and the sonic sensibilities that inform our sound. "

Patricia Wolf is a musician, sound designer, and DJ residing in Portland, Oregon. Wolf uses electronics, voice, and field recordings to produce non-linear compositions that draw listeners to a hypnotic inner world. Her use of melody and repetition manipulate the listeners' perception of time, conjuring vivid textures, and atmospheres. Her debut album, I'll Look For You In Others was released in February 2022 on Past Inside The Present and was quickly followed up by her 2nd LP See-Through which was released in May 2022 on the Spanish label, Balmat. We're in love with both releases, and are honoured to have her kick off this broadcast.

About the mix: "For this mix I wanted to create the feeling of a chill out room. I imagine a big party happening nearby, but it's a bit overwhelming and you need a place to hide out for a while and get centered. I want the listener to find a low lit cozy place to lie down to let the music wash over them. With eyes closed, I want the listener to allow their imagination to paint images of strange and beautiful places to explore."

This time we air a takeover from Naarm-based angels Tyler and Bel.

Tyler and Bel are visual artists and selectors with an unboundaried approach to sound and era. They both have shows on Mouthfull - Tyler hosts the weekly broadcast Semi-Precious, whereas Bel hosts an infrequent show titled Some Times.

Their mix for FPR is split into two halves;

The first explores music recorded in Denmark and Sweden between 1969 - 2022. It is inspired by a recent trip to Scandinavia, and the souvenir 12”s that made their way into Bel's suitcase - and building upon our growing collection of Northern sounds on the shelf. Referencing the diasporic pull to home, familiar melodies, tones and colours.

The second hour captures music for dance and theatre, music to move to, sounds that score an imaginary performance. The mix is textural and narrative based creating a kind of escapism, with ebbs and flows of energy moving with fluidity through percussion and synths.

Corners is a Ōtautahi-based producer, deejay, and the head of twominds. He has a diverse, drawing on ambient, electro, and 90s house, which he has showcased at shows throughout Aotearoa. He is about to release his debut EP Retrovision in August, the inaugural effort on twominds Records. We celebrate this release, and his upcoming month long tour of Australia & Aotearoa, with this resplendent mix.

About the mix:

For the introduction of this mix I wanted to start with some of my favourite Ambient tracks, one of which is Gene on Earth’s “Studio Dobra”. This track has been on repeat for me lately and it features on Gene’s new album “Time on the Vine”.

I’ve also included Havantepe’s "Robosoul" which is featured on Andrey Pushkarev’s Luck of Access label. The old-school electro influence and the unexpected baseline are what make this track for me!

The last third of the mix includes a couple of early 90s house tracks that I think have really stood the test of time. Finally, the closing track is one from me which will be released on twominds Records in August.
