How does Jesus heal us from rejection? By taking it onto Himself so it can no longer define us. From His hometown to His closest followers, Jesus knew what it was to be rejected. In the moment with Jairus and the bleeding woman, He steps toward the outcast, takes her uncleanness onto Himself, and gives her His wholeness. It’s a preview of the cross—where He bore the ultimate rejection from God so that we could be fully accepted by God. He was cast out so we could be brought in. He was denied so we could be called “daughter” and “son.” Through His death and resurrection, He gives us a new identity that can’t be lost, even when human rejection comes again. Because of Jesus, we don’t have to live under the weight of being left out or looked down on—we can reject rejection, resting secure in the unshakable acceptance of our Father.
