The reality of heaven changes everything here and now. Especially important are the choices made here that affect location and quality of life hereafter. In non-Christians, consideration of heaven can lead either to scoffing or changed minds. For Christians, considering heaven can lead to a sense of adventure & holiness in life.

Having introduced the idea of immanency, the author turns to the next exhortation and its resolution. The exhortation is to not forget the awesomeness of God. The resolution is to remember our long past connection with Him and our short time here on earth. Thus, we will be sober about our living in God.

Jesus has torn the veil that separates us from God by tearing His own flesh. Thus, we can confidently draw near to God & draw near to each other in Christian living.

The old sacrificial system was a reminder of futility, whereas the sacrifice of Jesus is totally effective.

The New Tabernacle is displayed as the place of Jesus' superior sacrifice. As ones saved through His blood, we can live with the confidence of beneficiaries.

Theme – The tabernacle is described as limited in its access & efficaciousness. It is not denigrated, merely shown as a picture of the perfect which was to come.

Theme – Every aspect of the New Covenant is superior to the Mosaic.

Theme – Aaron's priesthood is set aside for the greater order of Melchizedek – filled eternally in Jesus. The whole text is an exposition of Ps. 110 in which the Messiah is seen to be King (1-3), Priest (4), & Judge (5-7)
