On Tell Del Tuesday, Del Walmsley welcomes John “JC” Courtney from Kansas City, a lifelong entrepreneur whose strong work ethic was forged in a blue-collar household. As one of five children, JC learned early that if he wanted something, he had to earn it—shoveling snow, digging holes, collecting bottles, running paper routes, and even using his own savings to buy his first bicycle. By middle and high school, he was already building and leading a lawn care business, hiring classmates and discovering the power of teamwork and earning through leadership rather than just physical labor. Although he later achieved business success, his early real estate efforts fell short due to a lack of mentorship, strategy, and the right team, and his journey ultimately reflects a powerful shift from simply working hard in a business to building structured systems that create consistent income and long-term equity through disciplined real estate investing.
