This week, the guys had the honour of speaking with the captain of the Laval Rocket, Xavier Ouellet. Xavier shared stories about his unique childhood and detailed his love for the game from an early age. He also walked the guys through his emotions on draft day, when he scored his first NHL goal and what it meant to him to become captain of the Rocket. He also had some fascinating takes on the role of fighting in the game and what Joel Bouchard is like as a coach. The guys followed that up with a deep dive on the current situation with the Rocket and their playoff chances. They also discussed the recent Habs win over New Jersey and what Kovalchuk and Thompson mean to the lineup today and beyond.
This week the guys had a few choice topics to discuss. They went over the lackluster game against the Capitals as well as Claude Julien's post-match comments which sparked a bit of a firestorm on social media. With Julien's future a hot topic of conversation of late the guys also discussed and proposed a compromise to the supposed "unwritten" rule the Habs are often accused of implementing with respect to head coaches needing to speak French. Mike also wanted to discuss the Brendan Gallagher situation in more detail and why he feels the Habs and the player did everything they could given the circumstances. They also provided a State of the Union address for the team and discussed their playoff aspirations, such as they are. They ended on a bit of sombre yet important note, discussing the importance of the Bell Let's Talk initiative, especially given the recent tragedy involving the nine lives lost in the helicopter tragedy in California. Bye week? Pfft! No rest for the wicked. The guys are back this week in their usual timeslot and had plenty to talk about. They took the opportunity to address a few questions submitted by the audience; from the pressures of being a goalie in Montreal, possible regret over not signing Matt Duchene to what should be done with the younger players in the event the Habs are too far to make a run for the playoffs. The guys also recalled the win against Vegas and got into a bit more detail on the subject of what to do with some of the veteran players as we approach the trade deadline. Lastly, Media Matters returns with an epic smackdown offered up by a special Habs fan from down south. Don’t forget to download and subscribe!
Ladies and gentlemen, this week was another topic filled episode. Mike and John addressed all the hot items currently making the rounds in Habs land and the NHL. The boys discussed the two wins against Ottawa and Calgary with a special segment reserved for Mike’s experience of watching Kovalchuk’s OT goal live in Ottawa. They also talked about the incredibly touching Nate Thompson segment on Sportsnet, they addressed the burning question: should the Habs be sellers or buyers? John dissected Pierre LeBrun’s comments about Bergevin squashing any and all talk about potentially moving Price and Weber and addressed the comparisons to Bergevin’s comments prior to past trades. Finally, they debated the Kassian/Tkatchuk feud and what the incident means for the future of fighting and targeting guys.
This week, the boys are back and more fired up than ever. Does that have anything to do with the current winless streak? A little. However, Mike & John took the opportunity to give it right back to a few select members of the media this week who continuously and conveniently pick at the low-hanging fruit in an attempt to take jabs at the players. They officially welcomed the newest members of the team Marco Scandella and Ilya Kovalchuk, credited Marc Bergevin for the recent transactions and gave their take on the latest skid. You won't want to miss John's assesment of everything that is being brought into question by the fans and Mike's rant on why players who are rightfully used because they play as advertised.

In the final episode of 2019, Mike and John covered the Carey Price situation and tried to make sense of his recent struggles while justifying their decision to criticize his play. The guys also touched on the struggling D and wondered what could be behind their problems. John asked Mike whether he thinks the recent losing skid and the problems therein are linked to the reset/rebuild period of transition or whether the problems are more serious; the answer might surprise you. It wasn’t all doom and gloom as Mike praised Max Domi and the play of some our prospects. The guys ended the episode with their usual Media Matters segment and listeners should prepare themselves for another surprise.
