Laura is now on the edge of Seventeen as Almanzo buys up a plot of land. He's excited to starts his crops and build a house for him and his soon to be wife. Despite the fact the sales contract has a few shady details. With Almanzo busy at his new homestead, he has invited a friend from Sleepy Eye, Harve Miller, to Walnut Grove to help Eliza Jane at her farm. Which leads to Eliza Jane starting to have some new feelings. Oh and Nellie has some exciting news to share. How strong is Eliza Jane's prescription for her glasses? Will Carrie's new pigtails make her act her age? Has Charles taken some lessons from Joe Kagan?

As we prepare for the beginning of the end aka the final chapter in the saga that is Laura Ingalls Wilder (The Adult Years) and the rest of the Walnut Grove population, we take a look back at how we got here. Get a rundown of the high points and some low points of season 4,5, and 6 as Laura navigated her teenage years. Also included are some of my favorite moments as well my top ten favorite episodes from these seasons....which made it on the list? Lastly, I speculate what might happen in the 7th season. How many stories can they pull from the source material: These Happy Golden Years? Any surprise deaths I should be prepared for? Is this project really almost over?

New episodes, Season 7, start on Jan 2nd

Laura finds herself in Sleepy Eye assisting with the clean-up of the new school for the Blind, where she bumps into Almanzo after his long absence. It's not the reunion either of them was anticipating. Meanwhile in Walnut Grove, Caroline's Restaurant and Hotel is doing wonderful business while Percival is doing amazing work with Nellie. And Nellie is busy hiding her true feelings for Percival. Trying to prove his love, Almanzo takes on a second job to secretly help with the new school for the blind. However, this leads to burn out and a case of pneumonia. Finding the truth out, Laura confesses her feelings once again...only to be out shined when Nellie also confesses her own feelings for love. Almanzo, Manny, Manly, Zaldamo, Alamanzy...how many names does one man need? Will the new School for the Blind in Sleepy Eye be hiring more staff? Where are the newlyweds going to live?

Laura's takes her pains and decides to help Mary and Adam find a new school for the blind, overstepping some boundaries along the way. Nellie, on the other hand, is busy getting an education on how to run her restaurant and hotel with a new teacher: Percival Dalton. Was Albert in this episode? That moment Laura has been waiting for... Those moments Laura has been waiting for are finally happening. And all together in the same episode. Laura becomes a teacher and has an easy, breezy, beautiful time doing so (unlike her Sister). Charles refers to her as a young Woman and Almanzo notices there is something more mature about Laura. Lastly, Laura has made it to the ripe age of sixteen. An impressive feat accomplished without the advantages of modern technology, science and medicine. The only terrible thing to happen in this episode is a minor gets assaulted. Why does Laura have it so easy? How much sugar does Almanzo usually take in his tea? Will Eliza Jane find her own happy ending?

Out on a business trip, he meets the jovial Molly Reardon who slowly starts to develop feelings for Mr. Oleson. Feelings that Mr.Oleson is started to develop as well. Meanwhile, back in Walnut Grove, Harriet is starting to feel the absence of her husband when he isn't there but also when he is. It's not until Mr.Oleson meets Molly's Father that he realizes what type of person he wants to be. How well do we REALLY know Mr. Oleson? Anyone else notice how little of Albert there was in this episode? Will Charles ever forget another wedding anniversary?

Out of the Blue, the youngest of the Wilder Siblings, Pearly Day Wilder, shows up in Walnut Grove for a visit. And it's not long before this young traveling man starts to take advantage of every situation he can. Meanwhile, Charles is annoyed with Laura's constant chatter about Alamanzo. And while Charles deals with his half pint becoming a full pint, Albert has to deal with his hormones as a new girl moves into the area and he starts to have new feelings. What stories does Pearly Day have about a younger Almanzo and Eliza Jane? How come Albert HAD to be featured in this episode? When is Carrie going to start to act...her age?

In the Aftermath of the HIB school fire and the resulting casualties, things have not returned to the way they were. Jonathan's treatment of his son, Andy, has gotten so bad Charles is stepping in. When Mary wakes up, in part because of Albert's involvement, clues are gathered and revelation are made. What starts as a simple annually charity picnic for the HIB evolves into Drama unlike anything we have witnessed in the Prairieverse before. Giving into peer pressure, Albert with his buddy try smoking a pipe in the basement of the HIB. Things would've stopped there only if these two had properly extinguished the pipe before attempting to conceal it. Hours later not only is the HIB gone but the repercussions of the incident are felt very deeply at the Ingalls and the Gravey household. Parental Breakdowns, Shame spirals, grief induced day-drinking...and this is just the first part of this story. Should Albert reconsider who he tries to befriend? Does Doc Baker have as many different occupational hats as Charles? Who left more of an impact: Baby Charles or Baby Adam?
