"So about 10 years behind bars over my life. Due to that poison, poor decision making, things like that. Chris, I was a major league baseball draft pick as a kid. I was drafted by the Florida. Marlins offered a contract by the Milwaukee brewers. I was a big national prospect back in the day and drugs, alcohol surgeries, and a lot of mental health kind of shot that down the drain."
Must listen! Beau Payne started life as a promising professional baseball player drafted by the Florida Marlins. Numbing years of trauma, his life got derailed by alcohol, drugs, and prison stints. We talk about it all- baseball, childhood trauma, prison life, the culture of the military, and most importantly redemption and recovery. Beau demonstrates why you can never judge someone from the outside and you never know what is going on behind closed doors. He shows us anyone could end up in the gutter, but everyone can rise from the ashes to survive and thrive again.

"I think it was just for the fact that I was very much like alone growing up with it and there was so much stigma in terms of having a diagnosis and not really having anyone to talk to about it. And especially coming from a South Asian community."
Todays episode is with activist, journalist, writer, and podcaster Suswati Basu, who hails from the UK.
Suswati Basu, is a journalist, writer and a timid host, taking you on a path of key life skills by seeing what the experts say. Discovering what makes us human, exploring important life hacks, and “how to be”, whilst reading all the books so you can make an informed decision about what’s next on your TBR pile.
Have you ever thought why is it that my friends, colleagues, and acquaintances can do so much more than me? Well if you have, you’re not alone. From confidence, persistence, motivation, to resilience – these life skills can help us go a long way in believing in ourselves. This all actually started when she had a meltdown attempting to speak in public.

"It was actually like the week before Christmas, I think so many events came in one week that kind of ruined my world. Basically I got let go from a job, I went through a breakup, I had an injury towards my back. If anyone's familiar with back injuries, I had a herniated disc at L five S one herniated, which I'm still dealing with now."
Carlo fell in love with fitness at the age of 18, and ever since he's dedicated his life to living a healthy lifestyle. As he grew older his ambitions and goals for life grew larger, but little by little he lost himself. At the age of 24 he became severely depressed and on multiple occasions contemplated taking his own life because he felt no matter how hard he tried, he always failed. He felt insecure, inadequate, ashamed and worthless. Nothing helped. From telling family how he was feeling too speaking to a therapist, nothing worked. Later he found that the advice and lessons he was being taught from family, friends and his therapist was right, but he wasn't in the right state. He realized when he was forced to change his physiology, and his physical state, he began to see things clearly. He began to realize that he didn't want to leave his family and all the things he loved. He felt like a different person, or more accurately, the real "Me". He began to feel all of the love around him and had such a craving to live his life to the fullest with the belief that HE COULD DO IT! He now sees clearly where he wants to go and look forward to each day so he can get closer to his life goals. He wants to share his story with others and show anyone dealing with depression, or even if you're just burnt out that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

"So if you can learn how to take, say like a criticism and have it there. And you're like, I see it, I hear it, but I'm not internalizing it in that way, but I'm recognizing what is being said and whether it's something that's useful for me."
We have Ronnie on the show this week, and she is the creator, writer, voice, and editor of Rambling Ronnie’s Podcast!
She is a Canadian cat mom who loves watching a variety of movie and shows, reading books, writing, and listening to podcasts. She is currently a student working full time, so when she has some extra time she dives into her pet project-Rambling Ronnie’s Podcast!
The name comes from how she is a pretty quiet and introverted person, but when she has a passion for something she will RAMBLE on about it for an obnoxiously long amount of time ( ask anyone on her WhatsApp!). She thought starting her own podcast would be a great outlet for that, as well as a way for her to talk about her interests and hopefully find likeminded people out there in the world.
Please look for her on social media, and say hello!

"She made some food that night. It was time for her to get ready to start heading to bed because she knows she had to wake up early, get me to my summer school at the time."
In this episode I sit down with mental health advocate, and athlete (Olympic Weightlifter) Ayjay Gibson, we dive deep into the death of his mother who was raped and murdered, then set on fire. He has such a inspiring story that you won't want to miss. He came to Canada on his own from the Bahamas as a college student enrolling at St Clair College, he moved to the warmest part of Canada so he thought. You will have to listen to the whole episode to find about this funny story. This episode is filled with him overcoming so much adversity and being so resilient to get to where he is today! "I think that the easiest and the most basic thing is obviously to check up on them and to be there for them. But unfortunately so for me, like I'll always check up on certain guys who I know are going through certain things and I know if I were in their shoes, I would appreciate it."
In the return from our break from releasing episodes we have fellow podcaster and co host of the Good Times Ahead Podcast based out of Toronto, Ontario, Nick Eustace comes on today to share his mental health journey, and how concussions ended his hockey career abruptly back when he was 16. "I knew that I was going to be doing that at a very young age because I went to a children's camp as a little boy, and I seen this speaker up on the platform and he was sharing this message of motivation, inspiration, but he was also doing it by utilizing juggling and this unique talent that I was like, I like that."
Cody Byrns is an internationally recognized speaker and a number one best-selling author. In May of 2013, Cody’s life was drastically changed. While stopped at a red light on the highway, Cody was rear-ended by a box-truck that failed to stop. As a result, he was considered dead until first responders saw his hand move. He received many injuries that day, including severe burns to almost 40% of his body. After years of countless surgeries and rehabilitation, Cody has chosen to not allow his scars to keep him bound in bitterness and defeat. Instead, he uses his story to uplift others.
His goal is to help people live free from the bonds of scars (physical and emotional), equipping others with the proper steps to walk out of their past hurt and defeat, and run towards their God-given potential. As a thought leader, he speaks worldwide to provide relevant, applicable, and thought-provoking messages. Thousands of people have been impacted by Cody’s story and outlook on life. From school students to business leaders, his presentations have been received by many. Be prepared to have an experience that will motivate you to move out of bondage into a life of freedom!
In addition to his speaking career, in 2016, Cody founded his own non-profit burns foundation that has been able to help multiple survivors recover. To learn more about this foundation please visit TheCBFoundation.org

"You have the opportunity to get up and attack your day, everything that you do from business, your health and wellness, your relationships or you can go back to sleep and snooze on your life."
This episode we have Dave Reggina, one half of the No Snooze Podcast, which can be found on YouTube, Apple Podcast and other streaming platforms. He is first a father, husband, then a Deputy Commissioner in Westchester County, New York, about a half hour north of NYC! He is very disciplined about his health and wellness which he takes very seriously, as he battles Crohns Disease on a daily, it's been all about trial, and error for him figuring out which foods work, and which do not! He gets real vulnerable about his mothers struggles with addiction while growing up, and what it was like from a loved ones point of view dealing with that, it is never easy going through that. Today his mother and him are best of friends as he supports her through her recovery. We talk about the importance of living life one day at a time as well! Everyday is a new day, stacking small wins on top of one another is key to bigger wins! He cannot stress enough about consistency either, it really helps you with every area in life he says.
