Numbers 9 marks the beginning of the second year that Israel was encamped at the base of Mount Sinai. It was “the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt” (9:1). The LORD then commanded Moses to speak to “the children of Israel [to] keep the passover” (9:2).

Numbers 10, a reminder that Israel was a theocracy, a nation whose government was under the Law of God, and was led by spiritual leaders. Aaron and his sons were tasked with the responsibility of sounding the trumpets (10:8), for the LORD had given the priests the responsibility of communicating His direction to the people

Today’s devotional commentary follows the start of Israel’s journey to the Promised Land. Three days into their journey, the “mixt multitude” began to complain, and the fire of God’s judgment fell upon them. After that, Moses suffered a greater personal crisis, for his own sister and brother became his critics, and God struck Miriam with leprosy.

Today’s video devotional commentary. Forgive me for recent interruptions in my daily video broadcasts. I have been traveling the past six days, and the internet available was slow, and inadequate. I am home, looking forward to worship services at Hillsdale this Palm Sunday, and will be getting back on track with daily broadcasts.

Continuing our study of the Book of Leviticus, this is my second devotional commentary from that book, as we continue to study the various sacrifices the LORD required of Israel. You will notice the standard, “without blemish,” was God’s requirement of all sacrifices. After all, anything less than our best is unacceptable to God.
