  • Voice Artist Spotlight: Sherrice Williams

Ugh, I honestly love doing this Voice Artist Spotlight series so damn much. Every conversation reminds me that producing the Faultlines audiobooks has given me far more than voices for characters I’ve carried for years; it has brought an incredible group of humans into my life, and I am so, so lucky to know them. Part of me still cannot believe these are the people bringing my characters to life.

This time, I’m sitting down with the fantabulistical Sherrice Williams, the voice of Dr. Julia Weston. Sherrice shares how she went from working exhausting hours as a dialysis nurse and searching for a way to spend more time with her children to building a voice career wherever she could find a quiet corner—closets, Airbnbs, an RV, and even her car.

We talk about being biracial, navigating black and white spaces, code-switching, neurodivergent masking, motherhood, medicine, imposter syndrome, and learning to know your worth in an industry that often expects artists to work for basically nothing. We also dig into why Sherrice understood Julia so instinctively, how professional polish can become a survival strategy, and what it means to portray a character as a whole person instead of flattening her into “the smart mom” or “the doctor.”

Naturally, my ADHD takes us on a few scenic routes through casting, character development, audiobook pay, AI as an organizing tool, shady clients, courthouse weddings, Chili’s, Texas Roadhouse, and the fact that apparently neither of us can accept a compliment without immediately short-circuiting. You know, it is a completely normal and tightly structured interview.

This episode is funny, vulnerable, occasionally profane, and deeply honest. More than anything, it is a conversation about finding your people, trusting the work, and remembering that there is a whole human being behind every voice. I hope you love getting to know Sherrice as much as I have.

  • Voice Artist Spotlight: Josiah U

***SPOILER WARNING***: This episode includes spoilers for The Weight of Silence and light discussion of later-series material.

In this Voice Artist Spotlight, I’m sitting down with Josiah U, the voice of Logan Weston in the upcoming The Weight of Silence audiobook.

Josiah talks about finding voice acting through music and indie projects, the casting call that made him stop and pay attention, and why Logan felt personal to him as a young black actor. We talk about authentic casting, the emotional work of performing difficult material, Logan’s relationships with his family, giftedness, disability, and what it means to write and perform characters as whole people rather than symbols.

We also laugh. A lot. This is a warm, unpolished, deeply honest, occasionally chaotic conversation about storytelling, representation, the care that goes into bringing a character to life, and why the people making the work matter just as much as the work itself.

  • Voice Artist Spotlight: Ryan Devane

Join me and the incredibly talented Ryan DeVane, who is the voice of Jacob Keller in the Faultlines Series audiobooks, for a chat about their experience as a voice artist and what led our paths to cross! We also discuss Jake as a character and Ryan's connection with him already!

Please find Ryan's portfolio and contact information on ryandevanevo.com

Note: The chat is minimally edited and unscripted. Forgive my massive stuttering and word-finding issues... I was lacking in ADHD meds that day!
