This is the first of a first of a four part podcast series that co-hosts Coach Bob Deraney and Hank Morse did with Christa Talbot Syfu, the girls' head hockey coach at The Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, MA. Christa went to Williston for two years before going on to a standout career at Providence College under Coach Deraney. Now, Christa has just wrapped up her 17th season at Williston and was named Prep Girls Coach of the Year by The New England Hockey Journal.
In this episode, Coach Deraney and Hank talked to Christa about what it was like growing up and playing hockey in California, her decision to try and play at a higher level and what it was like going to prep school. Christa discussed what it was like applying to prep school, how she adapted and transitioned and why it helped make her a success. She also gave some good advice about what students and their parents should be thinking about and looking for when considering going to a prep school.
