The episode begins with her decision to move to Canada with her ex-partner, obtaining visas, and making the move in just three months.

After a year in Canada, she decided to stay and continue her education and work journey. She also talks about the financial struggles and uncertainties she faced, navigating through different immigration statuses, and finally obtaining a post-graduation work permit and later permanent residence.

This episode also touches on how she discovered her passion for podcast management and embarked on starting her own business. She reflects on the pivotal moment when she launched her podcast management venture, which ultimately led to the birth of her podcast, "The Spanglish Show with Mafe"

The episode also highlights the emotional aspect of leaving her home country and finding a new sense of belonging in Canada. Mafe candidly shares her ups and downs, including feelings of homesickness and uncertainty, and the support she received from her new friends and community in Canada.

The culmination of her journey comes in 2023 when she finally becomes a Canadian citizen after successfully passing the citizenship test and participating in the ceremony.

Moving to a new country can be a daunting experience. You have to start from scratch in a place where you don’t know anyone, where you probably don’t know the language and most likely the climate is super different.
