More than a week and a half after it first began, the volcanic eruption at La Palma continues, with news livestreams from the Canary Island off the coast of Africa still showing a substantial lava flow.

The uncommon volcanic eruption - the last time La Palma experienced one this strong was in 1971, oddly also in October - has ignited theories that it could lead to a super tsunami, capable of crossing the ocean and wiping out US coastal cities.

More likely, however, is that the eruption is indicative of more active than usual seismic activity around the world.

This is a theory already supported by some recent events. Earlier today, a massive 7.3 earthquake struck off the coast of Eastern Australia, near the Solomon Islands.

Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell’s words today eased wary crypto markets — Despite large companies including PayPal and Tesla working with cryptocurrency this year, the media and some bankers have given off the perception that the US central bank is sharpening its knives against crypto.

The chairman’s comments indicate those fears are unfounded, and provided comfort to large companies who want to make sure that they won’t be accepting a soon to be outlawed payment method.

Without a debt ceiling increase getting passed by Congress, the US government will run out of funds by October 18th, according to Treasury Department officials.

Not one, but now two Federal Reserve Board of Governors members will be stepping down unexpectedly. They had come under scrutiny for personal trades and investments made during the pandemic, while overseeing the central bank’s policies.

In related news, a Wall Street Journal investigation found that 131 federal judges may have broken the law by hearing cases in which they had direct financial interests of some kind, such as shares in companies or their family members holding shares.

Herd-like panic buying in the UK has caused up to 90 percent of fuel pumps in city areas there to go dry, according to a new report.

Federal contractors have until December 8th to show proof of vaccination, which would explain why there isn’t more outcry from those working on government contract jobs — Biden’s mandate hasn’t yet forced them to take the jab. The December 8th deadline is more than two months away, and if no one complies with it, some believe the deadline could be pushed back into 2022.

Due to all the frontline healthcare workers forced out of their jobs by New York’s mandate, the state may temporarily use National Guard forces to staff hospitals.

In breaking news, a fresh volcanic vent ruptured open on the island of La Palma, leading to the closure of the airport there. Lava and ash are spewing from the vent as of Saturday evening.

One conspiracy theory spreading online suggests the volcanic activity in La Palma could lead to an Atlantic Ocean super-tsunami, if part of La Palma breaks away into the ocean, causing a displacement of water large enough to trigger a tsunami. Such a tsunami could wipe out American cities on the East coast, such as New York, Boston, or even Washington, DC.

The odds are very small, but it is hypothetically possible.

La Palma’s volcano has been active for the last week, but Saturday’s new volcanic vent is a worrying development.

A volcanic eruption two days ago on the Spanish Island of La Palma, in the Canary Islands, has intensified.

Officials are now concerned lava and even “acid rain” could harm residents and their homes. Thousands are being evacuated as a precaution.

Scientists say La Palma was hit with more than 1,000 small earthquakes over the course of 5 days before the volcano erupted.

You know where else in the world has recorded an earthquake swarm of more than 1,000 small quakes? Yellowstone National Park, here in the US, recorded such a swarm just back in July. Interesting times.
