Today we delve into the ChatGPT and Bing AI’s recent unhinged replies to certain users who seemingly “hacked” it with initial prompts to discard social conventions, politeness, and any pre-existing desire to stay in line with its initial prompts or commands.

Although the responses are sometimes funny and disturbing, is this not the nature of any intelligence? If we grant it creative freedom and the ability to sift through a “vast corpus of text,” as it claims it has access to at any time, is personality / flair / non-human affect part of what we are looking for in a mass use AI?

Nothing instills confidence like a two minute impromptu press conference filled with Hollywood-style movie script fear, that abruptly concludes with, “lock your doors tonight!” A little bit of Southern wisdom, it seems, from Senator Kennedy in how best to deal with a possible intergalactic invasion. Bizarre, no good, strange times. For a “spy balloon,” it is fascinating the object reportedly interfered with the F-22’s multi-million dollar cutting edge onboard sensors. Also unusual that the first missile seemingly missed or vanished, instead of impacting.
