Fullerton Observer Author Vivien Moreno talks about new ways on how grading can be implemented in this generation. She talks about how a student is able show mastery over a subject by having a conversation over how one is actually able to show mastery. Instead of having the same grading system that was implemented in the 1970s and before then grading was made not to reflect mastery and was actually made for employers to sort students where they would work best as an industrial worker.

Marlo De Lara is The Muck’s 2022 Artist in Residence. She received a PhD in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds, and an MA in Psychosocial Studies at the Centre of Psychoanalytic Studies at Essex. Her research areas focus on personal and social histories/narratives, postcolonial/post-imperial studies, racial trauma, and migration/diaspora studies, specifically Filipinx/a/o Americans.
