As someone who travels pretty frequently, I can sometimes forget how complicated the process of attending a furry convention. There's a lot of things to keep track of, and even if you have the basic pitfalls accounted for, there are still some unexpected struggles of attending a con that not figuring out can break an otherwise fantastic event. I've fallen victim to some of the struggles at some of the cons I've been through, but that also gives me a chance to talk about them here, in an effort to have you avoid them yourself. As 2022 comes to a close, so does Finn's second year being an active member of the furry fandom! It's no secret that there's a lot of younger members in the furry fandom. Despite the age of the fandom itself, most people that you'll find in the community will be in their mid to late teens. One of the finer details about being a part of the furry fandom involves quite a lot of world building. Furries come up with complex and detailed characters or fursonas and use them to interact with them in what is essentially an entirely fan-created universe filled with anthropomorphic animals. It's no surprise then that you might think of furries just being a bunch of specialized role-players, and while that is true on the surface, how furries truly interact with one another create much more "real" experiences than you might think.

Furries, undoubtedly, have a certain love for animals that is a bit more than the average person. They go so far as to design entire personalities that encompass who they are as an anthropomorphic animal, and use that personality as their entire identity in the context of the fandom. However, they still know at the end of the day they are humans, and that their "animalistic" side of them is seperate from their person. However, there are some people out there that may be part of the furry fandom that do believe they are made up of part human, part animal. It's similar enough to where these individuals, called therians, are often confused with furries themselves, and on this episode, we explain what the differences between the two groups are!
