I love mobile devices. I like to look at them, use them, and design for them. Designing for mobile devices are quite challenging. That is one of the reasons I love designing for mobile. Today I am going to talk about the design principles for mobile applications. These are some practices I keep with me all the time.

I recently came across this sentence, “Our users know what they are looking at” from a very experienced designer. The question I have most of the time when a given design is, “can our users understand what we are trying to do?”. The assumption we create on the process of product design is that the users can understand whatever we give them. The real-life of product design is that no one is ready to learn something just because it is a solution to a problem that in existence. The design has moved away from traditional help sections and documentation on how to use it. People walk around with great experience in their pockets and hands. If they don’t understand what is the application about, they will move away from it.

Empathy is to see the real world through another’s eyes. In design terms, it means that to understand and discover needs of people so the designers can design solutions for them. In order to do that the designers should feel, give and receive unity with the users of the application.

The design profoundly based on human emotions and how humans interact with the application. Designers are moving progressively with the design concepts, UX principles and psychology to discover new dimensions in design. The designs I see nowadays are full of enthusiastic designers who loves to create a minimalistic design focus on all the areas except the usability of the design. Usability is a key aspect to create designs with meaning. Creating a delightful experience is not an easy process. Improving the usability of products and services can be helped through emotional, reflective and visceral design. I have been looking into how we can use these design techniques, and I love to share what I have found with you.
