  • #027 Intera: Walking Buddha's Way - David Roylance (Buddhist Teacher)

According to Buddha, all problems originate from misunderstanding life's reality. In this week's episode, we discussed with David Roylance, a Buddhist teacher, about the nature of reality. In the modern world, we seek success, and it is often tied with power, money, and fame, preventing us from understanding what is most important in life. How can we apply Buddha's philosophy in conjunction with our current mode of operation?

Learn the basic Buddhist teachings and ways to apply its philosophy to everyday life.

    - “Buddhism awakens the mind to the Natural Law.” What is "The Natural Law"?
    - The importance of meditation and the techniques to attain complete peace of mind.
    - Finding importance and meaning in life and why happiness is only temporary.
    - Navigating through and out of our human desires for material success, cravings, desires etc.

  • #026 Extera: True Mission of Fintech - Naureen Hyat (Co-founder Tez Financial Services)

In the last 40 years, the region that has moved out of the poverty line and over the income bracket of over $5 was the Asia Pacific. However still nearly half of them live below that line. Africa has increased its population but still the majority of them live underneath this line.

Perhaps fintech's super USP is being able to serve the un / under-banked population due to the rise in mobile phone penetration. However financial literacy is still an issue amongst all other societal issues.

Naureen Hyat is the co-founder of Tez Financial Services based in Pakistan. Her social responsibility and business acumen have led the company to be the leading neo-banks in the country. She tells us that she's not even close to being satisfied yet.

  • #025 Intera: Reprogram the Subconscious - Norman Plotkin (Hypnotherapist)

Ever wondered why you have trouble getting new habits to stick? Or simply struggle with dropping old patterns? The problem might be found in our subconscious mind, the part of our brains we use 95% of the time. How can we stir the auto-pilot brain to work for us? First, let’s go deeper into what the subconscious mind means.

The subconscious mind is our operating system and the conscious mind is the application. If we improve the OS, we can also improve the application.

Neuroscience is backing what hypnotherapy has been doing for centuries. Norman Plotkin, a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist explains it to us on our show!

  • #024 Extera: Reflections on Freedom Part 2.- Jim Mosquera (Economic Journalist)

The political and monetary systems haven't been working for the majority of the developed nations for quite some time. We ask the government to come up with better solutions and bit by bit we offer our freedom in exchange for more intervention in our economic and political lives. Are we expecting too much from our governments, when they are head deep into conflicts and stagnation themselves?

Inequalities in our world are further distancing us from an egalitarian future. The failure of how we put our dependency on capitalism, at least the version of capitalism we run today, is no longer functioning as the original theory suggested.

How do we maintain our liberty and sustainable economic lives?

  • #023 Intera: Waking Intellectual Individuality - Preity Upala (Geopolitical Analyst)

The polarization of people, especially in the US stems from inequality in my view. Inequality isn’t just about the capital-rich and the working poor. There’s much more depth in the definition of rich and poor. Future Design Podcast hopes for an egalitarian future but if the system is already set up so that equal opportunities can’t turn into reality, hoping for it, voicing for it, won’t simply do.

If governments were to tax the rich, the ideology can be based on the egalitarian start of a new life, not the equal result of every life, reducing the wealthy down towards the lower denominator.

  • #022 Extera: Dairy Minus the Animals - Max Rye (Chief Strategist Turtletree Labs)

The U$720bn dairy industry is about to be disrupted. Being a large polluter of greenhouse gas emissions, representing about 10%, and water, it is an unsustainable product and business. An alternative is on its way.

Turtletree Labs is using stem cell technology to reproduce dairy without animals. Not only it can create dairy products but it can also produce human breast milk. For mothers having difficulty in expressing, this can be the best solution without relying on formula milk.
