  • The Faithful & Wise Servant, 1
THE WISE AND FAITHFUL SERVANT, PART 1 TEXT: Matthew 24:1-51 SUMMARY: Although the prophecies of God's judgment may be difficult to interpret, if they are properly understood, their message will always be relevant and powerful for readers in every age. I. UNDERSTANDING PROPHETIC PRINCIPLES A. The Principle of Immediate Expectations. B. The Principle of Time Compression. C. Type and Antitype. 1. Biblical words used to describe various kinds of symbolic language: tupos, skia, parabole, antitupos (see Rom. 5:14; Col. 2:17; Heb. 8:5, 9:9, 9:24, 10:1, 11:19, 1 Pet. 3:21) 2. Definitions: -A biblical TYPE is a historical person, event, or institution that represents a greater reality or future event; not merely a symbolic illustration, but a divinely intended prophetic symbol built into history to prefigure future redemptive truths. -A biblical ANTITYPE is the greater reality to which the type points. If the type is the prophecy, the antitype is the fulfillment. II. ENCOUNTERING A PROPHETIC PASSAGE. A. The Type: God's Judgment Upon Jerusalem. 1. A Time of Great Wrath. 2. A Time of Great Upheaval. 3. A Time of Great Deception, 4. A Time of Great Kingdom Work. B. Antitype: God's Judgment Upon the World. 1. It speaks of a coming of the Son of man that is a visible and world-wide event (Lu. 21:25, 27; Mt. 24:30-31). 2. It speaks of a coming of Christ that is described in conjunction with the Last Judgment.

  • The Ways of A Faithful Guardian of Spiritual Treasure Part 3
In The Ways of A Faithful Guardian of Spiritual Treasure Part 3, discover how to be a good soldier of Christ and endure hardship for the gospel. To be a faithful steward of the Word of God requires courageous and hopeful faith. Believers are engaged in real spiritual warfare that demands significant personal cost and steadfast commitment. In this 2 Timothy 2 sermon, Pastor Richard Caldwell explains the apostle Paul's metaphor of the Christian as a dedicated soldier. A faithful guardian of truth refuses to become entangled in the affairs of everyday life. We must recognize that pleasing our divine commander takes absolute priority over everything else the world has to offer. This expository preaching reminds us that our earthly devotion is fueled by a profound heavenly hope. We gladly relinquish worldly distractions to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Ultimately, true loyalty is rooted in a God granted faith that looks toward the glorious revelation and return of Jesus Christ. Key Biblical Takeaways: - The entire Christian life is a spiritual battlefield that requires believers to embrace the expected hardships necessary for faithfully guarding God's truth. - A good soldier of Jesus Christ refuses entanglement in everyday civilian affairs that would interfere with their preeminent commitment to the kingdom of God. - Pleasing God must take priority over all earthly pursuits, compelling believers to gladly relinquish even permissible activities if they hinder divine obedience. - Faithful endurance in the present is motivated by future hope, looking forward to the good pleasure and eternal reward of the Savior who enlisted us.

  • Understanding Baptism
The sermon distinguishes between three types of baptism: water, spirit, and fire, using Matthew 3 as the primary text. Water baptism is defined as an outward public demonstration of repentance, rooted in Jewish ritual purification practices like the mikvah. Spirit baptism is identified as the inward, transformative work of God that regenerates the believer and saves them through grace. Fire baptism represents the future judgment and wrath of God upon the unrepentant. The preacher emphasizes that only spirit baptism results in salvation, while water baptism serves as an obedient response to that internal change. The message concludes with a urgent call for listeners to examine their hearts and ensure they have experienced this spiritual transformation.

  • Blessed Assurance
Brother Samuel Girod | Isaiah 26:3–4; Philippians 4:6–9; 1 Peter 5:7 The sermon explores the hymn 'Blessed Assurance' as a framework for overcoming anxiety and finding true peace through complete trust in God. Drawing from Isaiah, Philippians, and 1 Peter, the message emphasizes that believers are called to surrender their burdens, careers, and reputations to God rather than carrying them alone. It contrasts the futility of worrying with the freedom found in recognizing that God remains in control and has secured the believer's future. The central call is to shift focus from self-reliance and fear of man to humble submission and reliance on Christ's finished work. Ultimately, it invites listeners to live daily in the assurance that Jesus is theirs, allowing them to rest in His strength amidst life's pressures.
