This is Episode 103 — a Lost Episode from the archives — and it takes us deep into one of Very Sulty’s most enduring themes: the way humans drift through life on mental autopilot. After decades as a commercial airline pilot, Sulty had plenty of time to observe people, and even more time to think about what he calls “humans on auto‑pilot” — the default state where awareness shuts down, and cluelessness takes the wheel.

Long‑time G‑Block fans know this territory well. The show has always explored how people move through the world half‑awake, half‑aware, and often completely blind to their own impact. Sulty calls it “sleep‑waking” — a kind of mental blind‑sightedness that shapes everything from daily habits to global consequences.

And one topic Sulty never seems able to escape is parenting and human overpopulation. Humans may rank fourth in total numbers behind birds, fish, and insects, but unlike those creatures, humans don’t blend with nature — they bulldoze it. With their unique abilities, humans have become what Sulty describes as counter‑natural, a species that disrupts the very system it depends on.

Then comes the statistic that haunts him: From 1 billion people in 1800 to 8 billion in 2022 — an eightfold increase in just 220 years. For a species that prides itself on intelligence, Sulty argues this should give us pause… yet he often feels like he’s shouting into the void.

In this episode, Very Sulty hopes to jolt listeners out of autopilot long enough to consider their place in a world that — in his view — is in free‑fall, with the ground rising fast. It’s provocative, urgent, and unmistakably Sulty.
