  • Episode #43 - Family Beach weekend, Galveston Historic Tours, Trunk Show & More July 19th weekend

    Galveston was named after Bernardo De Galvez, and you can learn all about that history this weekend at the Bryan Museum.  Speaking of history, the new HISTORIC tours start Friday from the Galveston Island Visitor Center, a multi-media event on a bus with dual A/C, which could be helpful this warm weekend.

    Dr. Hal Needham has been conducting his hurricane tour on the Island since 2017, and has recently teamed up with the Galveston Experience (GEX) Company to provide his tour using the GEX state-of-the art multi-media tour bus experience.  In this episode, "Hurricane Hal" describes how he started his journey into this field, a preview of the tour which provides images and content rarely seen before by the public.

  • Episode #40 - 4th of July Weekend on Galveston Island

    Lots to do on the Island and it looks like the weather will cooperate.  Listen for details on the 4th of July parade, fireworks, the Patriotic Concert at the Galvez performed by the Galveston Community Band, several kayaking opportunities from the Artist Boat.   The Beach side of Galveston State Park will close July 15th so this is one of the last opportunities to enjoy Beachcombing 101 at the State Park.  Get a FREE BEER for helping with the Star Spangled Beach Cleanup, lots of music around the Island including Robert Earl Keene, FREE MOVIE NIGHT at the Strand on Saturday.

  • Episode #37 - Juneteenth Weekend on Galveston Island

    It took two and a half years from Abraham Lincoln signing the Emancipation Proclamation for the news to reach Texas.  It was on June 19th 1865 that the Union soldiers landed at Galveston with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.   Several events are planned around Galveston, and we encourage everyone to visit the Juneteenth Statue located at Ashton Villa, in front of the Galveston Island Visitor Center at 23rd and Broadway (image shown on this podcast preview).  Many other events also happening this weekend including the Juneteenth Fish Fry, Beach Patrol BBQ fundraiser, sandcastle lessons, ghost bus tours, vollyball competitions, kayaking, sailing, beach explorations, historic tours, educational presentations, Juneteeenth fathers day BBQ, and much more.  Hear them all on this edition of the Galveston Experience Podcast as well as complete details on the CALENDAR page at www.GalvestonExperience.com
