This past weekend, Israel did something no one ever thought would happen: They actually attacked Iranian soil. There’s a lot to unpack, and a lot of people have extreme takes from both sides but the most interesting ones are those who say Israel didn’t go far enough by refusing to attack Iran’s nuclear sites and energy infrastructure. Many are saying Israel should take advantage and go for the throat to topple the regime. The question is though, “Is that even possible?”
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Shay Khatiri who is the VP of Development and a Senior Fellow at Yorktown Institute. He’s also an Iranian national and a declared enemy of the state who participated in the famous Green Movement in 2009.
In addition to his Substack, The Russia-Iran File, he has also been published in The Wall Street Journal, The Hill, and Middle East Forum Observer. You can follow him on Twitter (ShayKhatiri).
