And we pay tribute to the late Neale Daniher, a legend in sport on and off the field, Australian of the Year and AFL icon who passed away at age 65 after a 13 year motor neurone disease MND fight. Neale left an incredible legacy raising more than $100million to raise funds for research to find a cure and the annual Fight MND Big Freeze match at the MCG every June. Condolences to Neale’s wife Jan, children Bec, Ben, Lauren and Luke and their partners, and the wider Daniher family.

Squash – The inaugural @rainbowracquetssquashmel Pride Cup was a smashing success and winner @deedsandangus tells us why he travelled six hours from Mildura to compete in the tournament! Stay tuned for what’s still to come in 2026 in the world of inclusive squash across the Rainbow Racquets Squash Network, with the Victoria Squash @pridecup back in 2027!

Surfing (starts 10:41) – we talk inclusion in surfing with @brenda.miley Founder and Director @letsgosurfingaustralia – the winner of not one but two @prideinsport awards for the team’s dedication to ensuring all surfers feel seen, safe, supported and celebrated. They were awarded the LGBTQ+ Inclusive Innovation Award and Gold Community Sport Award. ‍♀️Changing lives….one wave at a time And we’ll get some surfing tips!

Rugby (starts 21:45) – the @melbournechargers are charging through 2026 with so many exciting events! And to close the show a thank you to Melbourne United Head Coach Dean Vickerman for being an incredible ally, so generous with his time and support for the LGBTQIA+ community on and off the court! Three time Coach of the Year, Dean is set to depart the club, following a historically successful run over the past nine seasons leading United to more wins than any other club (199), as well as a pair of NBL Championship victories (2018 and 2021). Kristina Mitsikas, Senior Manager – Inclusion @uwasport joined us to share the journey to achieving Sporting Organisation of the Year and being recognised as Platinum Tier with colleagues Kirsty Fraser and Gabrielle Morri. UWA staffer and @perthpythonshockey member Reid Smith was  on the mic to share the journey to being recognised as Community Sport of the Year, acknowledging the outstanding contribution at the grassroots level in field hockey. Ten Pin Bowling – We are joined by Ryan Siriwardene President of The Melbourne 69ers – Melbourne’s only  LGBITQA+ Ten Pin league and fellow bowler Christopher King. The club is now in their 44th year running since 1982 which is an incredible achievement with the aim of reaching 50 years!  The club has been creating an inclusive sporting space decades before it was mainstream. This isn’t just a bowling league… it’s a piece of LGBTQIA+ history in Victoria where all ages, abilities and identities are welcome! (Starts 3.30)

Netball – We are also joined by Tanya Gamble, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Netball Victoria live in the JOY 94.9 Sport Studio to encourage you to get your netball game on.
