As summer draws to a close, so does the Gameaholic Supermassive Summer Event. This review dives into the newest game by the company, The Quarry. Colin and Luke dive into the game and discuss everything from the amazing voice actors to the decisions they made to get them to the ending. In a game where every single decision could have life altering consequences, everything must be clearly thought out and focused on. Luke and Colin discuss their very different endings and finish the podcast with their patented rating system. If you've played the Quarry or you just want to hear us talk, this is an episode you do not want to miss.
In the penultimate episode of the Gameaholic Supermassive Summer, the boys travel to Iraq in 2003 to play through House of Ashes. This game has a ton of amazing moments, with over 60 different character deaths and endings. Luke and Colin go in to detail and discuss the pivotal moments in their playthroughs, the endings they got, and most importantly, who lived and who died. For the boys, this was the first game they played where their endings were completely unique, with several important scenes seen in one playthrough but not in the other. Finally, the boys discuss the next game in the franchise, The Devil In Me and what they thought of the tease trailer after the credits.
On the next stop of the Gameaholic Supermassive Summer Event, the boys head to the abandoned town of Little Hope, Massachusetts. The second game in the Dark Picture Anthology comes with the classic horror genre consisting of heavy fog, jump scares, limited visibility and of course, monsters. With a great horror ambiance, great cast (headed by Will Poulter) and a great backstory focusing on the Salem witch trials, this game encompasses everything that a truly scary horror game needs. Luke and Colin discuss how their endings went, who survived, as well as the surprise twist at the end of the game. Luke also confesses he thought he had a supernatural experience after finishing the game. If you're looking for a genuinely scary game, this is the one for you!
The Gameaholic Podcast is off to French Polynesia to kick off week two of our Supermassive Summer. This week is all about the first game in Supermassive's Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan. The boys discuss their individual outcomes, who lives and who dies, and the key decisions they made which shaped their unique endings. With every decision being critical to success, you never know where you're going to end. If you've played Man of Medan and want to see how you measured up, or if you are curious about unique play style Supermassive offers, then this is the episode for you!
It's a Gameaholic emergency press conference! In a break from the regularly scheduled programming, Luke and special guest Billy (WOLFO911) come together to record the first Gameaholic bonus episode. This bonus episode is all about the incredible game Stray. Stray was such a unique game, Luke and Billy decided to drop everything and record a "week one" *full spoilers* review of the game. Billy and Luke discuss what made this game special and what made both of them finish it twice in the first four days. The boys go deep into thematic elements and discuss what they think the creators were trying to achieve through the characters, storyline and lore. Throughout the podcast, the boys continually sit back and admire the beauty of the world and how much effort went into making this game unique. If you're interested in Stray, check out the first ever bonus episode of the Gameaholic Podcast.
After a tough week of deciding which game to review, Luke and Colin have officially fallen into the Supermassive Games wormhole. The boys talk about the star studded cast (including Academy Award winner Rami Malek), the amazing and visually stimulating environment and the unexpected twists throughout the story. Since this game is based entirely off of your choices and the Butterfly Effect, Luke and Colin also discuss their different endings and most importantly, how many of their characters escaped with their lives. Week 1 of the official Gameaholic Supermassive Summer begins NOW!
After a weekend filled with stars, coins, a very devastating chance time, and a LOT of arguing, Luke and Colin sit down to discuss the Mario Party franchise. Fresh off of a few classic Mario Party rounds, the boys chat through the nostalgia of Mario Party Superstars. They talk the evolution of Mario Party going all the way back to the classics on N64. They discuss some quality of life changes that were implemented during the remake, as well as where the hope the series will go from here. If you want to relive some of the Mario Party nostalgia, you don't wanna miss this week's episode.
Luke and Colin return to a galaxy far, far away to discuss Jedi: Fallen Order. The boys talk about the implications behind the story, and the journey Cal Kestis embarks on. The boys cover everything from the chilling end scene to Darth Vader's mortality to how certain locations were made canon in Obi Wan. Finally, the boys make some predictions about the exciting sequel coming up. If you love the Star Wars universe, you don't want to sleep on this episode.
With Colin finally catching Covid, Billy (Wolfo911) returns for a second guest spot. This week, Luke and Billy dive head first into the Lego game universe. Lego games provide a unique play experience, providing silly and simplistic representations of some of the hottest film franchises in the world. The boys buckle down to discuss the quality of life changes and new features released in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga that have really brought a breath of fresh air into the Lego franchise. If you're a Lego fan, Star Wars fan, or just curious to learn more about the Lego universe, tune in!
Welcome Tarnished! The Gameaholic Podcast is joined by streamer/youtuber extraordinaire Billy (Wolfo911) as they dive back into the land of Elden Ring. Billy joins the team with a ton of Elden Ring experience, and provides a much needed "veteran" level commentary on some of the more challenging parts of the game (Malenia anyone?). Now that Luke has finally completed the game, the boys discuss the confusing story and several confusing mechanics that aren't really explained while playing. Finally, Colin takes a step back and Billy rates the game instead. Is Elden Ring the undisputed game of the year? Tune in to find out.
