  • Episode 116: The E3 2010 Wrap-Up Show, Pt. 2
    Finally we get through the lion's share of what we saw at E3.

    In this episode, Hawkes, Goalie and Edie finish up the Big Three by mulling the Kinect and dissecting what Nintendo brought to the table. Then then launch into a review of the games Edie saw at E3, including:
    • Rock Band 3;
    • Kane and Lynch 2;
    • Fallout New Vegas;
    • Fable 3;
    • Dance Central;
    • Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood;
    • Tron Evolution;
    • GoldenEye 007;
    • Lara Croft and the Guardians of Light;
    • Brink;
    • Hunted: The Demon's Forge;
    • Vanquish;
    • Conduit 2;
    • X-Com;
    • Rage;
    • Civilization V
    • Bonus track: A vignette of Edie at Activision's conference/concert. Hilarious.

      And promised photo of Rock Band 3's wall of songs can be found in the forums.

      Enjoy.

    • Episode 115: The E3 2010 Wrap-Up Show, Pt. 1
      Part one?! What the hell?!

      Yep. This week, Edie Sellers, Holy Goalie and Cooper Hawkes delve deep into the E3 press offerings from Sony and Microsoft... and then they run out of time. So the rest of the wrap up will have to wait until next week.

      Don't worry, you'll get all the details. Patience is its own reward.

      And this show is chock full of review and commentary about what Sony has up its sleeve and what we think of the Microsoft Kinect.

      Enjoy.

    • Episode 114: The E3 2010 Pre-Game Show
      We were up until 4 a.m. the night before we left for E3 to get this show up for you. We slaved over a hot stove for hours, and then we walked three miles in the rain to bring it to you.

      Well, the first part of that is true.

      And thus we have the latest episode of Gamehounds, replete with Holy Goalie and Edie Sellers and featuring special guest host, Mr. Maynard. With little news due to E3 coming up, we chat about what we'd like to see at E3, what we hope gets announced, and what we hope doesn't get announced.

      Stay tuned for our E3 coverage which begins next week.

      Enjoy.

    • Episode 113: I Heart Keytar
      You know what's wrong with enough podcast? Not enough boobs.

      We rectify that shortage this week as Cooper Hawkes takes a week off. In his place, Leah from Some Other Podcast comes by to visit and talk about what's important to her... boobs, main. And games. Yeah, games. Lots of games.

      In addition to chatting about boobs, Leah, Holy Goalie and Edie Sellers discuss:
      • A short, early review of Alan Wake.
      • An even shorter, even earlier review of Alpha Protocol.
      • Activision reveals its lastest Guitar Hero iteration — this time with heavy metal.
      • Rumors of a keytar circulate around Rock Band 3.
      • Michael Pachter's loose lips sink Michael Jaffe's big reveal: Twisted Metal 2.
      • And other stuff.
      • And boobs.
      • Enjoy.

      • Episode 112: It's Cougar Time
        Now, really, who doesn't want a cougar? Especially if you're playing Red Dead Redemption?

        This week, we chat about Rockstar's new Wild West–themed game, as well as Alan Wake (sort of) and a revisit to Oblivion.

        In addition, Cooper Hawkes, Holy Goalie and Edie Sellers review the week's news, including:
        • Lionhead Studio confirms that Fable 3 is coming to PC, but without a collector's edition. Hrm.
        • THQ, Activision and Ubisoft are rumored to be eying EA Sports' move to charge a premium for online play for second-hand games.
        • Recon Future Soldier pushed to 2011.
        • J. Allard leaving Microsoft?
        • Midway is officially dead.
        • Killzone 3 will be Killzone 3D.
        • Bioshock's original pitch document is an interesting behind-the-scenes look at the game industry.
        • Split/Second $40 next week at Best Buy, Alan Wake is $49 on Amazon.
        • Enjoy.

        • Episode 111: Stepto and Marble Underwear
          This week, we have another very special guest. And this one has a banhammer with him.

          Stephen Toulouse, director of policy and enforcement at Xbox Live, joins Holy Goalie, Cooper Hawkes and Edie Sellers to talk about how Microsoft keeps Xbox Live like a motel toilet — safe and sanitized for your protection. He answers questions about how the work is done, what part of his job gives him a big, fat chubby, and whether it's "Step-to" or "Step-toe." All the questions you want to know!

          In addition, they chat up the week's biggest news, including:
          • Harmonix is asking you to tell them what you want to see in future Rock Band games? Want Rock Band: Led Zepplin? Or not? Let your voice be heard!
          • Need a job? Why not be Bungie's official Ugly Betty!
          • Both game and console sales are slumping across the board. Why?
          • Want Home Run Challenge? PQY44-67TMC-FX7FB-T6YKF-9BG73.
          • Random stuff (a lot of it), thank yous, shout outs, and more!
          • Enjoy.

          • Episode 110: All Hail Homerun Challenge
            Why are we singing the praises of Homerun Challenge? Because this week we have a guest: Matt Davis of Barkers Crest, developer of HRC, as well as Avatar Golf. He hangs out with us answering questions about both his Xbox Live Marketplace indy games and about the indy development world.

            In addition, Cooper Hawkes, Holy Goalie and Edie Sellers also chat up the news. Including:
            • Electronic Arts says that if you buy its EA Sports games used, be prepared to pay an extra $10 to go online.
            • Get pissed off about being caught cheating? Hack Sony's website? Get slap on wrist! That'll learn ya!
            • Nerdtastic Unity-based game lets you know that Flynn really does live!
            • Random stuff, shout outs and more!
            • Enjoy.

            • Episode 109: Blow It Out Your Peep Shoes
              Another great episode is here, folks, brought to you fresh and steaming hot by your hosts, Cooper Hawkes, Holy Goalie and Edie Sellers.

              This week we, again, have lots to talk about. The industry is gearing up for E3 and we are right there with it. We may very well be the only entity in gaming that's not suing each other!

              In this show we talk about:
              • The Halo Reach beta goes live — and then doesn't — after millions of ODST customers find Bungie's servers weren't quite ready for primetime.
              • Maybe Bungie's servers were slow because they were too busy hyping their new, 10-year partnership with Activision. Seriously, not exactly something I'd be proud of.
              • Why not proud, you ask? Let's just ask the Infinity Ward Employees Group, which sued Activision this week for withholding their full promised bonuses and charged that the publisher is using the promised cash to hold them hostage in their jobs.
              • Random stuff, tons of email, voice mails from our listeners, and a new segment — shoutouts!
              • Enjoy.

              • Episode 108: The Great iPhone Debate
                Wow. What a week. So much to talk about, so little time.

                This week, Cooper Hawkes, Holy Goalie and Edie Sellers chat up the good, bad, and ugly in the gaming news world. Topics include:
                • Our thoughts on Left 4 Dead 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, the Alan Wake prequels, the Split Second demo, and Peep shoes.
                • Goalie interviews Turtle Beach about its new X-11 headset and offers his impressions.
                • The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal that will decide, once an for all, whether anti-violient-video-game legislation is unconstitutional.
                • The floodgates have opened at Infinity Ward and the talent that made Modern Warfare 2 is running screaming to Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts. Activision's even trying to bribe them to stay.
                • The whole iPhone/Gizmodo drama is now getting, well, very dramatic, as a California law-enforcement task force raid the website editor's private residence and take, well, pretty much everything that has a battery.
                • Vote and a struggling classic video arcade will get $25,000.
                • Soooo much Random Stuff, even more laughs, debate, rants, raves and Peep shoes.
                • Enjoy.

                • GameHounds 107: Hydrophobia Et Al
                  Wait. Episode 107?! Did you miss an episode?

                  No, you didn't. We did. Want to find out what happened to Episode 106? Well, you'll just have to listen to this week's show. In addition to Holy Goalie and Edie Sellers discussing what happens when you pick the wrong directory for file clean-up, the awesome duo discuss:
                  • Hawkes interviews Dark Energy Digital about their upcoming XBLA game, Hydrophobia!
                  • Xbox Magazine reveals that Fable 3 will allow co-op procreation. Oh, this is gonna be goooood.
                  • Film critic (and might we add, general asshat) Roger Ebert says that games can never be, will never be, art. Sit and spin, cancer chicken.
                  • No Doubt's lawsuit against Activision gets an all-systems-go from the Los Angeles Superior Court. Gwen really is a badass.
                  • Random stuff, reviews of iPhone's Supermarket Manager and the Dr. Horrible comic, general impressions of Xbox Live's Game Room, and the usual dose of semi-drunken, birthday weirdness.
                  • Enjoy.
