ଅଟଳ ବିହାରୀ ବାଜପେୟୀ ୧୯୨୪ ମସିହା ଡିସେମ୍ବର ୨୫ ତାରିଖ ଗ୍ୱାଲିୟରର ଏକ ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣ ପରିବାରରେ ଜନ୍ମ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଥିଲେ । ବାଜପେୟୀଙ୍କ ପିତା କୃଷ୍ଣବିହାରୀ ବାଜପେୟୀ ଉତ୍ତର ପ୍ରଦେଶର ଆଗ୍ରା ଜିଲ୍ଲାର ପ୍ରାଚୀନ ବଟେଶ୍ୱରର ମୂଳନିବାସୀ । କୃଷ୍ଣବିହାରୀ ଜଣେ କବି ଓ ସେ ନିଜ ଗାଁରେ ଶିକ୍ଷକତା କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରୁଥିଲେ । ବାଜପେୟୀଙ୍କ ମାତାଙ୍କ ନାମ ଥିଲା କୃଷ୍ଣା ବାଜପେୟୀ । ମହାତ୍ମା ରାମଚନ୍ଦ୍ର ବୀରଙ୍କଦ୍ୱାରା ରଚିତ ଅମର କୃତି ‘ବିଜୟ ପତାକା’ ପଢ଼ି ବାଜପେୟୀଙ୍କ ଜୀବନର ଗତି ବଦଳି ଯାଇଥିଲା । ସେ ସ୍ନାତକ ଡିଗ୍ରୀ ଗ୍ୱାଲିୟରର ଭିକ୍ଟୋରିଆ କଲେଜ (ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀବାଈ କଲେଜ)ରୁ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ କରିଥିଲେ । ଛାତ୍ର ଜୀବନରେ ସେ ଆରଏସ୍‍ଏସ୍‍ର ସ୍ୱୟଂସେବକ ହୋଇଥିଲେ ଏବଂ ସେବେଠାରୁ ରାଷ୍ଟ୍ରୀୟସ୍ତରୀୟ ତର୍କ ପ୍ରତିଯୋଗିତାରେ ଭାଗ ନେଉଥିଲେ । ସେ କାନପୁରର ଡିଏଭି କଲେଜରୁ ରାଜନୀତି ବିଜ୍ଞାନରେ ଏମ୍‍ଏ ପରୀକ୍ଷାରେ ପ୍ରଥମ ଶ୍ରେଣୀରେ ଉତ୍ତୀର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହୋଇଥିଲେ । ଏମ୍‍ଏ ପରେ ପରେ ସେ କାନପୁରରେ ଏଲ୍‍ଏଲ୍‍ବି ପଢ଼ା ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିଥିଲେ । ତେବେ ମଝିରୁ ପାଠପଢ଼ା ଛାଡ଼ି ସଂଘ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟରେ ନିଷ୍ଠାର ସହ ଲାଗିଥିଲେ ।
