On the latest episode of Shattered Lives, Ciaran Bradley and Michael O'Toole discuss the investigation into retired superintendent John Murphy, serving six and half years after he was caught holding cannabis resin worth nearly €260,000.

We understand that Murphy was questioned by elite gardai from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation on Tuesday.

Sources say the arrest and questioning were part of a major probe into his suspected connections to Gerry Hutch, which makes it more likely for Hutch to be hit with another serious charge in a matter of months.
