The Jesus Christ depicted by the Catholic and Protestant churches of a long haired, droopy eyed christ holding a lamb or hanging off a cross is a false christ. The Jesus Christ of the Bible was nothing like the one depicted by Renaissance artists as reproduced endlessly in pictorial Bibles. Jesus Christ was a Jew and He looked like any other Jew of His day. But that is just one of dozens of false depictions and claims about the person of Jesus Christ. There are also many false claims as to what it was Christ came to do. In this sermon Garner Ted Armstrong reveals the falsehoods and the Truth of Who Jesus Christ ,the man, was and His purpose in coming to this Earth the first time, and what He is like now and what He is doing, and how He will appear at His second coming and what He will do. The Truth is rather different from what the churches of this world peddle.

There is nothing about this sermon that is not immediately recognisable as current. Substitute just a few contemporary factual references on the state of the world and it could have been preached today. And yet the warning message is still being preached today to a world that needs to hear it all the more - and yet the world today as twenty years ago will not listen and will not be told.

Here Garner Ted Armstrong canvasses the many means by which man, both pagan and professing christian, have over centuries sought to "please" God or "their gods". Human sacrifice was even until recently thought to be pleasing to 'the gods". A more modern paganism has "christians" babbling in "tongues", arm waving and speaking gibberish - even though the Apostle Paul rails against such - see for example 1 Corinthians 14. Of course it is plain enough that Paul was speaking against people speaking a foreign tongue or language to an audience that did not speak that language - unless with an interpreter. There are many other examples of attempts to please God cited - most utterly futile. But there is a right kind of praise worship that GTA outlines at the end.

Millions of church goers believe God's law is done away. Why? Because thousands of Sunday go to meeting preachers have told them so for generations. Bit the one Law that they really object to and get exercised over is the Fourth Commandment - the Sabbath. And to justify rejection of the 7th Day Sabbath they have to "reject" all of God's Ten Commandments and then simply say the substance of the other nine are observed because, well they make sense.

Will the thieves, crooks, thugs, pedophiles and assorted perverts, adulterers and murderers repent? Before they commit the crime? Will they repent when they are resurrected to face Christ in the 100 year period of judgement following the Millennial reign of Jesus Christ on earth? (Rev. 20: 4-5)What then?

The Last Great Day depicts the great resurrection at the end of the Millennial rule of Jesus Christ following His Second Coming and the resurrection of the saints. The second resurrection involves all of the "rest of the dead" (Rev. 20:4-5)It will be their first opportunity for salvation and they will have a 100 year period to qualify for God's kingdom. Here is a message, preached in season, of tremendous hope for all mankind.

This sermon was delivered on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles 1993. Tabernacles, in God's Seasonal Holy Day plan of salvation means not just a foreshadowing of the Kingdom but that we, humans, live in a temporary physical body or tabernacle and look forward to our change to an everlasting, permanent spiritual body.

Are we "called out" by God to get salvation? Or is there something else?

Jesus Christ had perfect emotional control just as God the father has perfect emotional control. But Jesus Christ was "like unto us", capable of being tempted to sin. But He never did sin. He overcame sin, He controlled his actions and thoughts. He was tempted as we are but He never gave in to sin. That is why He is able to be and is our perfect Saviour.

Human nature tends toward vanity, lust and greed - rich ingredients to cook up sin. But we also and often have an unseen partner in sin - Satan the Devil and his demons. Satan, the god of this world as described by the Bible - 2 Cor. 4:4 and 2 Cor. 11:13.

The coming great falls religious leader is going to appear Christlike.
