The early Internet’s golden age is a myth. Its privacy and security are the result of technical limits, not design. The process of enshittification, where platforms decay into ad-ridden, AI-generated clutter, are driven by evolving tech and a need for increased profit, not a conspiracy to ruin our lives. We need to ignore a past that isn't as great as we thought it was and use the tech we have effectively while ignoring those things that annoy us about it.
