When he plans to return to the place after coming back home, he cannot find it again. He also notices that the photograph he took shows more than what he saw.

In "The Tree on the Hill" Lovecraft created the third and final chapter, as well as a quote from the mythical Chronicles of Nath. It remains a matter of dispute whether Lovecraft also had a hand in the creation of the second chapter.
