Bishop Garlington, in his classic humorous and entertaining way, shares a hope-filled message about the power of aligning ourselves with our Jesus.

In Luke 15, we find Jesus telling a story about a Father who runs to his son, who was lost and hurting. In this truth revealing story, Jesus shows us the power of acceptance and change; the power of sonship instead of an orphan mindset.

Religious people mutter. Jesus welcomes. While religious people were muttering about Jesus hanging out with tax collectors and "sinners" Jesus tells a story illustrating the joy and power of heaven in pursuing the lost sons and daughters of God.

In 1 Corinthians 9:19-27, Paul uses an athletic metaphor to inspire us to live a disciplined life; not to get God's attention, but so that we may not lose that which has apprehended us. God has given us a foretaste of an increase of His presence, therefore we want to live in such a way as to be marked by a great move of God.

Paul compares Christians to athletes that are called to run, and run in such a way as to get the prize. Now that the "debt of honor" has been paid, Gateway has found her legs again and it's time to run the race God has laid out for us. Let's not let anything entangle us and keep us from running and serving others.

God has given us freedom and love, which means we have choices. The choice was made clear in John 5 when Jesus healed an invalid man. He instructed him to rise up, pick up his mat and walk. The man had a choice to step into his moment. As Jesus healed this man, He confronted the Political and Religious system of His day, proving them unable to help the heart of a man.
