We've had a lot of watching hours to kill during quarantine, and Netflix has been there for many of us. We even get a queer character here or there, lucky us! In this episode: The Order, the new Charmed, Warrior Nun, and Cursed all get the Gay Breakfast treatment.
Sorry to get this to y'all late, but we wanted to watch ALL of season 1 of the Owl House before we did our episode. This horror-comedy for kids is the first disney TV show to have a queer main character, but there's a lot more gay magic to be discovered here. Judith and Natalie are always happy to talk about witches, because witches are always queer. Come join us in the coven.
Please be aware of the CW message at the beginning of our episode, and give it a quick listen if you want to skip directly to Owl House content!
Our long SPOP review finally comes to a close. Today we discuss Horde Prime the evil church man, Shadow Weaver, and Catradora of course. Thank you She-Ra for giving us SO MUCH queer content to talk about. It's really been so much fun. Thanks for reminding us why we must be strong, cuz we're gonna win in the end.
Happy birthday Judith! Find out all about the big stupid cake I got for my bday this week and also how we feel about the FINAL SEASON of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power! We've decided to go on a character-by-character basis for this one, and there are so many to discuss that this will be a two-parter! This is She-Ra's queerest season and we're here for it! Let's go!
We're getting close to the end of She-Ra, but we're not there yet! Today we discuss lonely Catra's mental breakdown, the fine art of being an anxious lesbian telling destiny to go screw itself, and the repressed gay AI Light Hope. Plus more! CW: Mental health issues
Our Very Gay coverage of She-Ra & the Princesses of Power soldiers on into the reign of Queen Glimmer! Today we take a deep dive into Scorpia's symbolism & Glimmer and Adora's breakup arc! This season was so heavy we'll have to add another episode to the She-Ra list!
We continue our look back at Noelle Stevenson's She-Ra by covering seasons 2 & 3 (which are actually just season 2 sliced up). Scorpia, Huntara, and a desert full of furries are definitely enough to get us excited. But we talk about the heavier side too, and all the feelings that went into throwing that switch. Tune in and rewatch along with us!
CW: Discussion of abuse, mention of the word suicide
Because we must be strong! Find some rainbow-colored strength with us in our first of a 4-parter dedicated to the animated queer masterpiece that is She-Ra & the Princesses of Power! There is no shortage of queer themes in this series to discuss, even in its first season. In part 1, we'll talk worldbuilding, character intros, and catradora. If your She-ra hype is still burning bright, please join us!
It was a little under the radar, but Pixar released its first (short) film with a queer main character this Pride month. We take a look at Pixar's "Out" today, what its story means to us and what it means for animated queer entertainment.
Studio Trigger's BNA (Brand New Animal) was just released from Netflix jail, and what better way to celebrate than to go 100% queer theory on the whole damn thing? Put on your rainbow thinking caps (or maybe just a pair of wolf ears) and come night running with us as we give our personal gay interpretation of Trigger's latest anime project.
