 In today's episode I talk about the difference between hope and belief.  I try to answer the question of how do we pray when we don't feel as if we have either one?  I reference a wonderful book on prayers that says the things that we are all feeling and does so in such a beautiful way.

Phillip Bass is the founding priest of The Beloved Community at The Trees in Durham, NC.  This is a community dedicated to providing healing ministries outside of a traditional church setting, especially for those who have experienced religious trauma.  In today's episode I talk about praying for our enemies!  What?! Hear me out, ha ha. Seriously, as a follower of Jesus I know that my sacred responsibility is to love and I can't do that when I am raging at an individual or a group of people. I can stand up and resist, and yet, how do we stay in our sacred heart and walk the talk of Jesus while resisting?  I offer a special technique that I have learned to radiate that sacred light to those whom we call, enemies.

In today's episode we stand boldly in community to dispel the darkness that surrounds us.  I focus on how the light of Dr. Martin Luther King is on this very day on Jan. 20th and just like him and Baryard Rustin, we can stand in the light even with overwhelming darkness around us. We have the power to keep our inner light burning through this moment in history....because when this moment is over.... we will still be standing.
