On today’s show, we explore the undercounted death toll in Gaza and how the Lancet’s research team has developed a system to evaluate a more realistic toll. We’re in conversation with Francesco Checchi, an epidemiologist at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine who supervised and worked on statistical analysis for the Lancet’s recently published study, called “Traumatic injury mortality in the Gaza Strip from Oct 7, 2023, to June 30, 2024: a capture–recapture analysis”.
