The performers will be Ròisìn O’Grady – Soprano and Eamon Sweeney – Renaissance and Baroque Guitars, Renaissance Lute

Tonos specialise in the music of the 16th–18th centuries and are delighted to be performing in Wicklow as part of their 8-date Arts Council-funded national tour which coincides with the launch of their debut CD: Songs of Identity and Belonging.

There will be music, song and poetry reflecting on our sense of nationhood, religion, love and mortality from Ireland, France, Italy, South America, Spain and England. The evening will include works by Turlough O’Carolan, Ruairi Dáll Ó Catháin, John Dowland, Gaspar Sanz, William Shakespeare and from the Irish Traditional canon.

On Saturday October 8 at 8 pm, Triona Marshall (harp) will play a concert of

both traditional and new music, including the first movement of Handel's

Harp Concerto in B flat.

Tríona’s music has been hailed by critics as both sensitive and revelatory.

Drawing from the centuries-old harp tradition, her performances are renowned

for their depth, virtuosity and flair. Years spent performing with

orchestras and The Chieftains have brought her all over the world. However,

it is as a soloist that the depth of her journey becomes most palpable.

The next concert in the Calary 2016 series will be performed at 8 pm on Thursday September 8th by Musici Ireland. The performers will be Helena Wood (violin), Beth McNinch (viola) and Grainne Hope (cello). Their programme will be Beethoven’s Op.3 in Eb followed by Boccherini’s String Trio in D major, Op.14, No.4 and ending with Dohnanyi’s Serenade Opus 10. The concert will take place in Calary Church off the Roundwood Road.
