  • Growing Together (Johnson)

As we have discovered thus far, we are, by faith in Jesus Christ and baptism into His name, brothers and sisters in Christ. We are de facto unified in the koinonia lifestyle as children of the King of kings and Lord of lords. But we are more than sons and daughters, we are also disciples or followers. The Lord didn’t bring us into a relationship with Himself just to sit by and enjoy being His kids, His children, His family. He also brought us into a relationship with Himself to be His followers, His students, His disciples. It’s far too easy to be idle and enjoy our identity in Christ every day until Jesus returns or takes us home. But when the Lord calls us to faith He also calls us to follow. Deep discipleship is His deep desire for our lives but deep-unified-discipleship is also His desire for our lives together in the Church. All of us “Growing Together” as we seek to follow Jesus arm in arm and in lock-step. Today we explore God’s Word and discover that we are “Growing Together” every day. What would Gloria Dei look like if we lived this truth?

  • Pulling Together (Meyer)

In just about every organization, vision or mission or purpose is seen as paramount to the organization’s success. If the organization doesn’t have a vision, mission or purpose, the organization will flounder and will also likely fail. More importantly, the vision, mission and purpose of the organization must be embraced and lived by all. If members of an organization are pulling in opposite or even multiple directions, the organization will be split and divided and demise will soon follow. And...the “organization” known as the church is no different. Does the church need to have vision, mission and purpose? Absolutely. But our vision, mission and purpose must be Christ-centered and Christ-like. Today will explore God’s Word and discover what the Lord wants our vision, mission and purpose to be and what therefore keeps us “Pulling Together” every day!

  • Others First (Johnson)

    “Living Koinonia Lives
Aug 31st/Sept 1st “Others First” (life) Acts 2:42-47; Galatians 6:1-10. PJM mains; PBJ 9:00a FLC; 10:30a Sanct. As we begin our “Koinonia” sermon series, we are reminded that our life lived as Christian people is not lived for ourselves, but for others. This is a difficult truth for us to embrace because we’re raised to believe that “me first” is an acceptable mantra. And it would be acceptable...if we were just Americans. But we’re not just Americans, we’re American-Christians, or Christians who happen to live in America. As such, we can show a better way to those around us as we show them Jesus’ way by putting “Others First”. Yes, take care of yourself and take care of your family. We will remember today however, that as a Christian, we live like Jesus lived and consider the needs of “Others First”.
