What an amazing truth the star brings to us today. We could make the application that the brilliantly shining star in the sky was just an imagery that pointed to the brilliantly shining Son of God it was meant to point to. Jesus is the light of the world and the star helps us remember that truth! But it was more than an illustration, wasn’t it? It was actually a reminder that the Lord doesn’t leave us without directions pointing to His love and mercy and grace. The world around us certainly points us to God, but the cross, the grave and the believers in the cross and grave are “shining lights” pointing to the truth of the King of kings who came to bring us to heaven itself!
What’s Your Story: Holy-Heavenly-Huddle
Amazing to visualize what happened on the hillside that first Christmas night. Can you imagine the concert that the shepherds were privy to? Can you imagine the sound of the voice of an angel of the Lord and the voices of the combined heavenly chorus singing to God on the night Jesus was born. Today’s reminder is that you don’t have to wonder forever. You can speculate and wonder in this lifetime but some day you will stand with all the redeemed and not only hear the voices of the angels singing praises to God and to the Lamb, but you will join your voice with theirs in perfect harmony and wonderful symbiosis as we worship our Lord forever and ever in heaven itself!

Why Are They Here?” (Shepherds) Luke 2:8-18 PJM. The shepherds are one of the most loved characters in the Christmas narrative. They were chosen. They were amazed. They were afraid. They were excited. They were great. But they were also...not very well liked. When the Lord chose to come to the shepherds, He chose men who were thought of poorly in the culture of their day. And yet, He chose them anyway, didn’t He? This is a message for all of us. It is not about you or who you are...it’s all about Him and His love for you. He chooses to come to shepherds, the hated, the despised, the sinful...and He chooses to come to us...sinful people just like you and me. And why? So that we can some day hear the heavenly chorus of angels singing to God Father, Son and Holy Spirit in heaven itself!
One of the most amazing truths of the birth of Jesus is where He was born. We often hear it said “Jesus should have been born in a palace” or “Jesus should have been born in a beautiful hospital” and that’s all true. But the reminder today is that it’s not exactly true...you see, no earthly location would have ever been good enough for our Lord Jesus. Huge Palace? Massive Castle? State-of-the-art Hospital? Solid gold room in the finest ever hotel? None of them are good enough. This isn’t just a king...this is the King of kings! No earthly locale would suffice to honor Him. And that’s the point...He didn’t come to be honored, He came to be the humble servant of humanity. The manger/stable of old simply foreshadowed the criminal’s death He would die for the sins of the world as through Him we inherit heaven itself!
