Geek Fruit Podcast

On this episode, the geeks look into the life and times (and deaths) of nerd legend Harrison Ford! Erstwhile roadie and professional carpenter, Ford's life has been full of bizarre experiences but his passion for acting has inevitably lead to a galaxy far far away AKA A-list status in Hollywood.

On this episode, the nerds break down the third installment of the prequel trilogy X-Men: Apocalypse. Whether you're a fan of the series or not, it is impossible to deny the X-Men's influence on the superhero genre, with the original being one of the first real entries of the same. With a huge cast, spanning multiple timelines, it seemed we had come to a finale of sorts with Apocalypse, but the end of this film has us thinking otherwise. Was it a hit or a miss? The nerds go through it all in Juggernaut-heavy detail so beware of Spoilers!

No matter what the outcome, remember: Mutant and Proud!

This week's episode of the Geek Fruit Podcast has us throwback to the times of adventure shows. No, not reality shows, not survivor, not idol, just plain good old fashioned adventure game shows, where we can all relax and watch the nameless contestants fail spectacularly, in contests of physical and mental challenge which we all thought we could best- sitting in the comfort of our homes of course.

That's right! We are talking about two classic shows which all us MILLENIALS (Yes we didn't know that we were) remember fondly from the nineties, namely Channel 4's The Crystal Maze, and Nickolodean's The Legend of the Hidden Temple. Both are making a somewhat return if not in the original format, and in this episode we dissect the shows structure and the reason for their untimely demise. We discuss hosts Richard O' Brian and Kirk Fogg and their respective futures, as well as the reason why they resonated so well with the people who watched them at the time.

MCU's very own Anthony Mackie AKA Sam Wilson AKA Falcon casually gave this movie the title of 'Avengers 2.5', and damn was he on the money about that one. Filled to the brim with heroes fighting off heroes, the third and seemingly final installment of the trilogy, Captain America: Civil War pulls of the delicate balance between incredible action sequences, while also having a soul. Captain America fights Iron Man in a battle of ideologies loosely adapted from the eponymous and critically acclaimed comic book arc, and wins the hearts of everyone despite being not wise-cracking, comedic relief in any shape or form.

In this episode Jishnu, Dinkar and Tejas discuss the special screening they attended to watch this movie ahead of the world, the inevitable parallels to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, as well as the much needed Black Widow spin-off that has eluded us for far too long.

Jishnu and Tejas talk to Ceto and Vikas and dive into the wonderful world of Tabletop Board Gaming. If you are someone who has always wanted a 101 on board games and its beautifully nerdy culture then say no more. This episode should have you clued into the difference between American and Euro games, as well as why Monopoly sucks.

Jishnu and Tejas talk about the return of the beloved Powerpuff Girls to Cartoon Network. This reboot has new voice talent, updated animation and graphics, but the same infectious charm of the original run that we grew up watching. They also discuss the expected return of Swat Kats and Samurai Jack, and also how children's cartoons have evolved with the children themselves.

We return to our childhood favourites this week as Jishnu and Tejas discuss the live action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book made famous by Disney originally in 1967. They talk about facts you really didn't know about one of the most beloved cartoons, how the latest version fared, and even discuss the children's novella to see how some characters have developed over a century of story re-telling.

After many episodes far far away from the home of the Star Wars Universe, Jishnu and Tejas return to discuss the incredible season finale of Star Wars Rebels, the animated television show set between episode 3 and 4. A must-watch for any hardcore fan, they discuss the ties to Rogue One, the Han Solo prequel and Season 3. Trust us, you are not prepared for these feels.

In what is going to be probably the most divisive movie in the year for fans and critics alike, the resident nerds at Geek Fruit, Jishnu Tejas and Dinkar, breakdown what was really going on in the Dawn of Justice. Love it or hate it, BVS marks the albeit late entry of the other biggest player in the superhero universe: DC.

In this special episode, break down season2 of Marvel's Daredevil made for Netflix. In no particular-ish order they discuss what worked, what didn't and discus the zany ending to the season and what it means for the rest of the Defenders mini-verse.
