  • Assassins and Shadowhunters are Family

    We also talk with actor Josh Cruddas. Josh played the role of Alexei in Polar, starring Mads Mikkelsen and Vanessa Hudgens, now available on Netflix. He’ll be on to chat about this film and more! Born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Josh is a talented actor and award-winning film music composer. An exciting year full of murder and mystery, this east coast rising star is bursting onto the Hollywood scene in 2019. Josh is well-recognized for his starring role alongside Peter Fonda and Lucy Boynton in the Warner Bros.’ American civil war epic feature COPPERHEAD, for which he was nominated for an ACTRA Award for Best Actor in a Feature Film. He has also appeared in various series such as Fox’s “11/22/63”, CBC’s “Murdoch Mysteries”, Global’s “Private Eyes” and “Rookie Blue”, HBO Canada’s “Call Me Fitz” and The CW’s “Reign”.



    Our review of Fighting with My Family starring Florence Pugh, Lena Headey and Vince Vaughn. Born into a tight-knit wrestling family, Paige and her brother Zak are ecstatic when they get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to try out for the WWE. But when only Paige earns a spot in the competitive training program, she must leave her loved ones behind and face this new cutthroat world alone.     We talk with actor Jade Hassouné to talk about his work on Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments. Jade returns in the final episodes of the series as Meliorn, a character that’s been a regular on the show. He’ll be on to talk about these episodes and more! Jade Hassouné is a Lebanese-Canadian actor and musician born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. His first big break came when he was cast to star alongside Emily Osment in ABC FAMILY’s original TV movie CYBERBULLY. From there, he went to star as Prince Ahmed for two seasons in CBC’s hit television series HEARTLAND. In 2016, Jade was cast in a life-changing role as Meliorn in the award-winning American supernatural drama television series SHADOWHUNTERS (FREEFORM/NETFLIX). The show is a winner of four 2018 E! People’s Choice Awards, including The Show of 2018 and The Binge Worthy Show of 2018.

    We talk with director Jordan Canning. She’ll be on to talk about her work in television on shows like Baroness Von Sketch Show and Schitt’s Creek. Jordan Canning was exposed to the world of filmmaking at a very young age through her mother who worked as a production designer. It wasn’t until after university when she made her first short film through the Newfoundland Independent Filmmakers Cooperative (NIFCO) in St. John’s that she truly fell in love with directing. Her television credits include directing all twenty-three episodes of the CTV digital series SPACE RIDERS: DIVISION EARTH. The show won the 2014 Canadian Screen Award for Best Digital Series and four Canadian Comedy Awards, including Best Director. She has also directed on multiple TV series, including SAVING HOPE, THE DETAIL, BURDEN OF TRUTH, BARONESS VON SKETCH SHOW, SCHITT’S CREEK, THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES and LITTLE DOG.



    Our review of The Umbrella Academy starring Ellen Page, Tom Hopper and David Castañeda. On the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. But not everything went according to plan. In their teenage years, the family fractured and the team disbanded. Now, the six surviving thirty-something members reunite upon the news of Hargreeve’s passing. Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Vanya and Number Five work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father’s death. But the estranged family once again begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse.



    We also talk with actor Tennille Read. Tennille can currently be seen on the latest season of Workin’ Moms on CBC in the role of Bianca. She’ll be on to talk about that and MORE! Tennille Read was born in Toronto and raised in Newmarket, Canada. From a young age, Tennille had set her sights on performing. Her first big break came when she was cast to star alongside Eugene Levy on the CBC and Netflix hit television series SCHITT’S CREEK. Since then, Tennille has amassed a significant body of work in several film and television productions including CONDOR, SHADOWHUNTERS, GOOD WITCH, THE MEANING OF LIFE and BAJILLIONAIRES. Coming up next, Tennille can be seen starring as Bianca in the highly anticipated third season of WORKIN’ MOMS alongside Catherine Reitman.

  • Polar LEGO Champions

    Originally Aired: 02/08/19 – We review The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. We talk with Fei Ren of Polar. We also speak with Jim Zub of Champions.

    We talk with actor Fei Ren. Fei is one of the many talented folks featured in Polar, starring Mads Mikkelsen. The film was recently released on Netflix. Fei will be on to talk about her role in the film and more! Born and raised in Zhengzhou, China, Fei Ren she trained in traditional Chinese dance and ballet. She came to Vancouver, Canada to complete her Psychology degree at the University of British Columbia. While working on her studies, Fei successfully continued her international modeling career. After graduating from UBC in 2013, she began acting. Fei has quickly become “one to watch” in the entertainment industry, bringing to life complex, dynamic, and powerful characters in film and television. This year, Fei can be seen starring in Netflix’s crime-action feature film Polar opposite Katheryn Winnick, Vanessa Hudgens, and Mads Mikkelsen. For more on Polar, check out the film on Netflix.



    Our review of The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part starring Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks and Will Arnett. The citizens of Bricksburg face a dangerous new threat when LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space start to wreck everything in their path. The battle to defeat the enemy and restore harmony to the LEGO universe takes Emmet, Lucy, Batman and the rest of their friends to far away, unexplored worlds that test their courage and creativity.



    We also talk with comic writer Jim Zub talks about his current work at Marvel on Champions. The second issue of the relaunched series came out this past Wednesday. He talked about that series as well as a number of other titles he’s written. Jim Zub is a writer, artist and art instructor based in Toronto, Canada. Over the past seventeen years, he’s worked for a diverse array of publishing, movie and video game clients including Marvel, DC Comics, Disney, Capcom, Hasbro, Cartoon Network, and Bandai-Namco. He juggles his time between being a freelance comic writer and Program Coordinator for Seneca College‘s award-winning Animation program.

    That’s right is that time of year again where we present our Froggy Awards to the guests we have spoken to in 2018. With the help of our 2012 Golden Grant Award Winner J. Torres. He joins us in studio to help once again give out the award to our Best Comic Creator Guest of 2018 – aka The Golden Grant Award. Matthew Rosenberg called in to accept his award and speak with us about Uncanny X-Men, The Punisher and more. We also gave out the award for the Best Video Interview of 2018 After much deliberation, we gave this award to Megan Follows who Andrew spoke with at Toronto ComiCon 2018 for her many roles in her career check out the full video here. And finally, the award for our Guest of the Year 2018 went to actor/cowboy/mustache Tim Rozon (Doc Holiday on Wynonna Earp)! Tim joined us via phone to accept his award and talk with us about the Wynonna fans, comics and answer some fan questions.

  • Marvelous Punishment

    We talk with actor Royce Johnson, better known to viewers as Detective Sergeant Brett Mahoney on Marvel’s Daredevil, The Punisher and Jessica Jones. A regular on the three Netflix series, Royce has a pretty big role in the latest season of The Punisher. Royce will be on to talk about Punisher Season 2 as well his performances throughout the “Defenders-verse”.



    Our review of Punisher Season 2 starring Jon Bernthal, Amber Rose Revah and Ben Barnes. Former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has been living a quiet life on the road until he suddenly becomes embroiled in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham). As he is drawn into the mystery surrounding her and those in pursuit of the information she holds, Castle attracts a new target on his back as new and old enemies force him to confront whether he should accept his destiny and embrace a life as The Punisher.



    We also talk with comic writer Kelly Thompson returns (via phone). Kelly just finished up a co-writing gig with Ed Brisson and Matthew Rosenberg on Uncanny X-Men. The first issue of her new Captain Marvel series just hit stands last week. On top of that, she’s currently writing West Coast Avengers, Jessica Jones and Mr. and Mrs. X. It’s safe to say that Kelly’s got a lot of Marvel characters on her plate.
