Geekdown Podcast

Opportune June rolls on with hosts' choice, as Cait and Jord revisit the meta anime Re:Creators and the space opera The Expanse, two shows they really liked but fell by the wayside years ago. Did they continue to keep our interest? We shall see.

Also this ep! The North triumphs, ThinkGeek shuts down, the financial benefits of staying in haunted hotels and more, including updates on what we've been watching including Good Omens and The Black Godfather.

We commence our latest theme month this week with the arrival of Opportune June! For the next four weeks we've decided to revisit some of the things we've brought each other on the show over the last three years, free from the grind of the weekly content mill. And what better way to kick it off than by forcing each other to spend more time with shows we've been vocally ambivalent about, Avatar the Last Airbender and Revolutionary Girl Utena. Have our takes cooled over the years? We'll find out together.

Also this ep! So much to talk about including Anime North, a monumental development in Jordan's life, the highs and lows of Waifu World, and all the things we've been watching including Good Omens, Fleabag, I Think You Should Leave and more. Thanks for hanging, friends.

Caitlin went to Anime North! And we'll hear all about it next week. For now, it's culinary adventuring for Captain Poor Brain, Amazon irritations and a surprising discussion of the Venom, the Marvel movie no one asked for.

Next week marks the start of our latest theme-month brain child: Opportune June! A chance for us to return to things we liked but haven't found the time to revisit, and a chance to force each other to keep watching something we weren't crazy about. It's sure to be...something.

Thanks for listening, friends!

A gunfire filled double feature on the pod this week as Jord and Cait revisit the first John Wick in anticipation of the third, and look back at one of the franchise's influences, the work of Hong Kong Director John Woo with his film Hard Boiled.

There's also a fair bit of talk on the legacy of Game of Thrones, grandpa gets a new phone, Batman gets sparkly and a fight about Star Trek.

If you're headed to Anime North 2019 this weekend, check for your girl Caity Mac at the Brightshield Games booth and say hey!

Cait returns from her trip through Real America(TM) to join Jordan for a chat about a sleeper of the Spring 19 Anime Season, Hitori Bocchino Marumaru Seikatsu, and the Russo Bros first swing at an Avengers movie, Captain America: Civil War. There will be a couple of Endgame details in there as well, listener beware.

We also talk about Cait's trip, the continued problems with the take economy, another of Jordan's existential crises, and what we've been watching including Street Foods on Netflix, Star Trek: Discovery, Carole & Tuesday and Sarazanmai.

Believe it or not, we still had things to talk about after last week's chunky episode. This time out we struggle against our worst impulses after the Cowboy Bebop casting announcements, process yet another pile of Star Wars news and general Disney+ announcements, Cait wants to know what happened at Wrestlemania 35, we touch on things we've been watching including Sabrina and Ainori, and check out Jordan Peele's Twilight Zone reboot. We've got quibbles, y'all!

Crawling our way back from illness-induced hiatus, your new BFF's return with a monster of an episode, catching you up on all the things we've been watching and doing the last three weeks. Medieval Times! Perfume live in Toronto! Record Store Day! Road trips! Special Appearance by Petey Pablo! It's all here! And we also talk about a pair of Netflix gems, the comedic puzzle box Russian Doll and music doc The Two Killings of Sam Cooke.

Thanks for your patience during our absence, friends! We hope you stay with us.

BABIES WILL FIX EVERYTHING. At least that's what the 2016 anime Poco's Udon World and the 2007 film Waitress would have us believe. We were buying? Answers await.

Also this ep! Jordan's going to Medieval Times, Amazon answers Caitlin's prayers, QUEEN SZN is almost here and more.

Geekdown Comic Club reconvenes as we peer into some neglected corners of the Marvel Universe, first with the 2016 edition of Moon Knight, followed by the celebration and satirization of "Weird Marvel" known as Nextwave. We'll also talk about the Endgame trailer and some other news bits but who cares, this show is only a "Romance is a Bonus Book" recap pod now.
